EastEnders - Shane Richie

Seriously, why do so many people hate him so much? IMO he's a very good actor, and is a great character! I think him and kat work very well, why so many people are against him on digital spy, is a bit confusing?

I agree. He's a great actor. I think the criticism is partially to do with his change in character. He's self-entitled and rude recently which is miles away from what he was like a decade ago.

I've always liked Kat and Alfie!

I have noticed a little change in his character, but he's still a nice guy

I don't like Kat & Alfie. I always liked her with Antony or Andy. Kat is better on her own. TBH I don't think Shane Ritchie is a great actor, not the worst, but it seems like he's playing himself in many ways so that's not that difficult. We could probably all ourselves well, hey we do it everyday.

I don't hate Shane Richie. I hate Alfie Moon passionately, and unfortunate things that happen to him make me joyful beyond belief. I do really like him when his true nasty spiteful nature comes out though.

I think we see Shane's best acting when he's either portraying anger or despair. He's been particularly brilliant these past few weeks, but I've always liked him.

I adore both Alfie and Shane and I think he was brilliant tonight, I thought he was going to cry during that scene with Aleks and at the end and i'm really glad he didn't because if he had I would have too!

I'm not ashamed to say I feel really sorry for Alfie even though he's been an idiot and I just wanted to give him a big hug!

Apparently it's because people on this forum are a cut above, or so i've been told!

He's very popular on instagram and twitter though!

He's quite clearly a brilliant actor when given the more serious, darker material. It's the big over the top, everyone's friend material where he turns to sh*t.

I don't hate him at all, I just don't like how Alfie has turned out to be such a tool

I sick to death of these boring, Victorian-esque street urchin storylines on EE. In real life, Kat and Alfie would be rolling in benefits, living in a 6-bedroom mansion.

So you didn't like them when they first got together in November 2003?

Shane Ritchie would be great in a Carry On film . He bugs the hell out of me on a soap

Shane Ritchie first job wasn't in acting, he was a redcoats, and done Saturday Night a Entertainment Shows, so he is late I to acting, but in my eyes he is fine, if anything the more serious work he gets the better the acting.

A lot of you say he is playing himself, but how many of you are old enough, to remember him being himself back in the 80's.

I thought he was very good last night. All the cheeky chappie artifice had been stripped away and he was totally lost. Alex's speech was very close to the bone too.

He was a blue coat at Pontins!

He was on tv a lot when I was younger, You Gotta Be Joking was a good one and Night Fever with Suggs, remember that?

Oh and the Daz ads, I wanted him to come to my house so much so that my mum would make him a cup of tea and he he would sit at our kitchen table and I could chat to him, I loved how when the lady opened her door Shane would be there with his megawatt smile and twinkly blue eyes and they both would giggle, I really wanted that!

I thought he was really cute too, with his fluffy hair but he's better looking now he's older and imo he was the best actor in last night's EE!

I'v always had a soft spot for Alfie, but I can see why some find him irritating

I thought Alfie was going to punch Aleks' smarmy face at one point and then I thought he was going to cry and i'm really glad he didn't do either, I just wanted to hug him!

EastEnders as much as I love it does not really portray the real East End.

I prefer Alfie when he's not a cheeky chappie and do you know what? I actually felt sorry for him.

He's a bit of a bugger!

Aleks: "If you want money why don't you go out and get a job?"
Alfie: "That's what I'm doing"

Please Alfie, there's other jobs, not just the market. Let's be realistic here.

My hatred is all for the character of Alfie. Shane Richie is a perfectly competent actor and his performance was just about the only good thing in the baby swap storyline. But for the majority of the time he is presented as a bumbling, cheeky chappie buffoon and the character does my head in. The fact that two of the Square's sexiest women have fallen for him is ridiculous and he is unbearable at the moment - behaving with a ridiculous sense of entitlement and yet we are still supposed to feel sorry for him.
