It seems everyone constantly bashes 2011-2013, but does anyone remember how bad it was during this period??
Alfies condom caper, the fairground collapsing, that extra dying in it and everone holding a memorial for him, those weed smoking youths from the youth centre, that awful actress playing that stalker obsessed with Martin, Den becoming a perfert???

was it a bad???

It might have been bad/boring but then they had great characters that have since been killed off, or they left.

Not much else worth mentioning

In all seriousness, I didn't mind that era but I remember, just from coming onto DS a few years later, how everyone slates it. I think the fairground incident cops a lot of flack.

We had an excellent cast back then, it was bad by 1999-2002 standards, not compared to later years which it was vastly superior to.

Pat, Pauline, Peggy, Frank(?), Den, Nana Moon, all the Slaters, anymore?

Yes the cast was excellent then, I agree.

Also Jack Dalton, Dennis, Paul Trueman (I'll conveniently ignore Anthony) and this utterly brilliant moment:

There was a load of guff elsewhere (Millers, Gus n Juley, Ferrairas) but the Watts revival was fantastic IMO.

They were getting up to 14 million an episode at various points so it can't have been that bad. Even if misinformed people buy into the whole '3m with no clash or nothing!' nonsense that the media always likes to spout.

The 2000-2002 period as far as I'm concerns (I started watching in 2007) were possibly two of the biggest years for EastEnders, so when a lot of new characters came in to this period, and a lot of stars like Babs and Steve took breaks, the show started to crumble... However, it still had many great characters, 2005 was a great year for the show, from what I've seen/heard, and the dreaded kate harwood made 2006 a mess, and santer turned eastenders completely around into one of the greatest era's a soap has ever had, with vibrant stories and vibrant characters! 2011-2013 was a complete mess and all of santers work was undone! It didn't help the dreaded kate harwood was head of BBC or something like that, at the time! dtc has come in and is very much like santer, although doms first summer was awful this year, the rest of his time on the show has been very good! There are a few things that still need changing, characters like lee and Donna, what do they do for the show? He could bring a few older characters back, but on the whole, EastEnders feels fresh and exciting again! And he has brought in quite a few good and vibrant characters like Mick, Linda and Charlie!

The most iconic male character in EE history was still in the show.

Den Watts.

So I enjoyed this period of Eastenders.
