iPhone 6 on EE with 20Gb data. Tethering?
ALFIEBOY2002

I see EE have an iPhone 6 deal that is £53.99 per month with free phone and 20Gb. I am currently looking for a mobile broadband deal to as my home BT broadband is quite dire!

I have taken a punt on a mobile dongle and early tests are extremely promising. The data however is relatively expensive on a PAYG basis.

I am tempted to consider the iPhone option above if a) I can tether and b) I can top up data if necessary should I go over during the course of month.

Can anyone answer this as the shop (Phones 4 U) weren't quite sure.

EE include tethering with their plans, that I am sure of. As for topping up data when you've reached your allowance, you used to be able to when you reached your limit but that was a year or so back and I'm no longer a customer.

What annoys me about EE right now is that I can get a 20GB tariff for £38.99pm at the lowest price. But to get 50GB it suddenly becomes £74.99pm. Whats that about!

I wonder how much of the £38.99 pm and £74.99 pm is handset and how much of it is calls/texts/data?

38.99 is nearly all calls/texts/data as you pay a massive amount upfront for the phone.

That's insane god knows how they're selling the devices at that price. :-O

It is a £600-800 phone.. What did you expect it to cost.. Nothing? Likely these plans will include what EE is about to launch at no extra cost.

I hope that's a 12 month contract as it seems very high even for 20gb?

I have a 5S on EE with 2gb. This also allows tethering and something I do on a regular basis.

For the last 2months I did creep over my 2Gb allowance, and you can buy a 1Gb top up, which lasts for 7 days, or 1Gb, whichever comes first. This costs £5.99 if I remember.

About a week later I received a text saying that I could upgrade from 2Gb a month to 10gb a month for an extra £7 a month. all I did was reply back to the text with YES and it was all set up from the following bill date.

Is EE really about to launch VoLTE though? Wifi calling yes, but VoLTE I'm still thinking is more likely to be next year rather than this (I mean commercial launch not trials).
