It's a DLNA client app, get it from the appstore. I don't have a nas drive to test it but I can access the recordings on My Foxsat directly using this software and a DLNA server package from the custom firmware package list. It can use media player apps you have like MX player to play back content you have stored on a DLNA server connected to your network.

Select rootvideo displays all the recordings. As I said no idea what capability the usb drive connected to your router via usb has. Have you looked at the router setup options and the online help for your router ? |

Cheers for the recommendation. Sorry silly question coming up does the Hard drive come with the jumper or do I need to get that separately?

No, it arrives as a bare bones drive with no jumpers. I took one from an old IDE drive which had a couple of spares parked on the jumper pins. Do you have an old drive you can cannibalise maybe? Failing that, somewhere like Maplins will sell you a small bag of jumpers.
Regards, Lt. Dang Ah yes - its been a long time since I messed around with old IDE drives I do have something kicking around I can repurpose. |

Thanks for the heads up on BubbleUpNp looks a canny app. What brand power line do you use? Most seem to carry the power saver mode. |

Hiya
I suspect it has very little other than as a storage hub. Thanks for the heads up on BubbleUpNp looks a canny app. What brand power line do you use? Most seem to carry the power saver mode. I prefer this configuration because it leaves the power socket available for use. I'm using them to pass the feed from a cable router plugged into the master BT socket in a cupboard in the hall to an 8 port switch hidden behind the TV in the livingroom where I have a bunch of network devices plugged in, including my Foxsat-HDR. I have the samba client running on the Foxsat so the internal 1TB drive can be seen across the network by all devices. I have a tablet running Jellybean an on it I use ES File Explorer to browse the content of my network. It sees the Foxsat drive right away and tapping on a .ts file fires up MX Player and plays HD video smoothly. Tapping on the 0.ts file plays back the live TV that the Foxsat is currently tuned to. I also have browser remote installed on the Foxsat so I can control it remotely and therefore watch any live TV I want on my tablet. I find this set up reasonably flexible with the 500mbs Solwise powerline adaptors with enough bandwidth to stream HD content from the Foxsat or my WDTV SMP. Raydon's firmware makes the Foxsat a pretty powerfull piece of kit giving me the ability to record 2 HD programmes while watching a 3rd HD recording on TV and streaming a different 4th HD recording to watch on a tablet all at the same time which caters for the family's wide taste in viewing! I can also copy HD & SD recordings across the network to a drive attached to the WDTV SMP media player to add to my archive for playback. The transfer rate is not fast but is entirely acceptable at an average of about 8 to 9MBs. But more importantly the copy process runs in the background so you can still use the Foxsat to make recordings or playback content at the same time. So really pleased with this setup and not missing my Sky box (which seems pretty limited now in comparison) or the monthly subscription bill! Regards, Lt. Dang |

Cheers everyone for the advice. 1Tb hard drive and Solwise powerline adapters are on order.
Cheers Lt Dang for the tip using ES File Explorer this allows my tablets to see and connect with my hard drive that is hooked up to my BT Home Hub. All the best Joolio |

Hi
All my bits and pieces have arrived. First task is to upgrade the hard drive. I am presuming that it isjust a straight swap and the Foxsat reformats it automatically. Do I have to set partitions or does the Foxsat sort this automatically? |

If it is a SATA III drive don't forget your jumper across pins 5 and 6.

Hi
Apologies for the radio silence. I have finally managed to get the time to upgrade the hard drive and install the Custom Firmware. A daunting task but much easier in the end than I thought. I have to say that it works really well. Thank you to everyone for all the help and guidance. I am still finding my way around the upgrade and the enhanced functionality. I have ES File Explorer installed on my tablet but I can't see the Foxsat with it, is there any way that I can configure ES File Explorer to access the Foxsat. I have Twonky, Media tomb and Samba installed. I can access video files and play them via the web browser but only if I click download. If I click play in the browser I get a plug in not supported message. I also have a Roku3 which can access the Foxsat via Twonky but it won't play the .ts files. Is there any way that I can stream video content to the Roku? Thanks again Joolio |

I have solved the ES File Explorer issue. That is working brilliantly. Would still appreciate any thoughts on how to stream to the Roku box. Eg is it possible to stream Mp4 files to the Roku via the Foxsat?
Cheers Joolio Have you installed the convert files package and nowsters patch. The two together may make HD recordings playable on the Roku via DLNA. The only way to upload MP4 files to the Foxsat is convert them using Raydons AV2HDR. This will create the 3 files required xxx.ts, xxx.hmt and xxx.nts. |

Hi Graham thanks for the quick response. Have just installed Convert files package.
Is this the correct source for Nowsterhttp://hummy.tv/forum/threads/nowsters-patch.4616/ Have tried to load it to the Foxsat using the same method as the original custom firmware install and I can't get it to load. Thanks Joolio |
