you wait on line for 15 mins to get someone to speak to
you can hardly understand a word the guy says.. My phone is not getting incoming calls ok Ill test the line well you cant ring me back... can I have your e mail address so I can make contact that way and find out the results no we dont give out our e mail addresses so this problem rolls on and on, not getting in coming calls makes things so difficult, phoning back to bt.... how do I get hold of the same guy ? Just wondering , is there a a bt forum somewhere at least there I could put questions and wait for the e mail notif |

First, dial 17070 from your landline and confirm the number read back to you is the correct number, says something like ' this circuit is defined as 0199999999..if it's the correct number make a call to your landline from your mobile, while you are listening to ringtone on the mobile, but your landline not 'ringing' pick up the handset, if the call connects and you can hold a conversation, you have proved the problem is within the exchange equipment, and you need to report it as bell not ringing (bnr) to your phone provider, even if they say the line tests ok, it's not the line as such it's the exchange equipment, they will probably do the usual of saying if it's your own equipment it's a chargeable visit, you may want to make sure it isn't your phone by trying another phone in your house, or take the phone and plug it into someone else's working line just to be sure it's not your own equipment that's faulty,
finally if this is a new line, and the number is being 'imported' from another provider, like Sky, you may have a number portability issue where any calls made to the number, are not ported from your old provider to your new provider, if it's this, it can be a problem, because your old provider has to be involved, but they can afford to take there time as you are no longer a customer, so they have little incentive to help |

Ive got another phone, plugged that on and getting the same result.
a few weeks ago an incoming call would ring the phone once... about a 1/2 second ring.. Id pick it up but it would of course be dead Now Im told by people who try to ring .. a voice comes on to say....... this line is not receiving calls ..... I can ring out ok Im on the internet ok but these d---n incoming calls just aint getting thru so I feel cut off from everything ...... including BT phone engineers ! Ill have to look for a dedicated BT forum and at least get my problems posted up there Im paying BT a fortune for line rental....... incoming calls should be part of the deal ! thanks for the link mac27 , just hit it but all Im getting is a white screen I ll try again later with a diff browser |
