I think it was to do with Mel really. Simon hates Mel because Mel hates the deception and will not follow Simon. Well I think she was really trying to tow the party line these last couple of weeks, for Andrea and possibly her job's sake.
This Sunday, however she threw all rules out the window and either it's normal protocol to tell the judges how the voting is going Sunday afternoon or she was clever and managed to get someone to tell her, I think the latter.
Remember Simon's comment to Dermot when referring to what Simon said the previous night about liking everyone and not wanting anyone to leave. It was something along the lines of 'Well I've changed my mind
now and there is someone I want to leave tonight.' I believe this was directed firmly at Mel. No doubt Simon was furious at what she'd done.
I believe she told Andrea that afternoon... He was composed and not at all shocked, merely resigned, as he said, 'I wasn't shocked.' Andrea just can't lie, bless him. I think Simon would have hated a contestant getting a tip-off even more.
Then her not being on stage with Andrea right away was a dead give away. She even confirmed it on Xtra Factor. As we know there was no time for drawn out dressing room fights in between the vote call outs. This must have taken place earlier. Also the whole judges thing on Xtra Factor, it wasn't the usual play acting. Mel was seriously going at Simon. This is r
eally getting nasty in my opinion.
Unfortunately Mel has partly caused this. But only because she was trying to stand up for a just competition. I'm not having a go at Fleur, and god knows I wouldn't post this on the main board, but Fleur was miming in the first weeks and Mel couldn't let it pass. Of course Stereo Kicks mime their harmonies and 1D went through the whole damn show miming. It's not fair, but then neither is the music industry or life come to that. Mel perhaps should have done what she was told and kept quiet. But this could have happened anyway. Simon doesn't see Andrea as marketable. Well fine, his loss, because SYCO music is an X Factor graveyard, look through it here:

Even his 'beloved' Leona Lewis has been dropped. The man doesn't know the meaning of loyalty. Most acts are given one album full of covers, then dropped to make way for the next lot. He's not interested in nurturing talent just making money and TV shows.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant guys. As for the jukebox song, well, It's not so bad, I'm sure the other choice will really be something different. And don't forget we are now in quarter finals, I think casual viewers will be inspired to pick up the phone for Andrea after last week. I really think Mel will rally around him. Maybe I'm just getting carried anyway, but I really think she has a mother and son type bond with Andrea. It'll all work out.
