Another Sports Channel on BT Youview today.
Today BT has started the sports fight with sky in putting a channel up today called "BT Sports Extra 1 " on channel 527
Remember that Sky just put out badly made advertising which says new European sky sport channel . As most people on BT forum are saying that BT has be slow in getting new channels on their own platform , yet talk talk have managed to get many more channels . BT now that space has been made ready on the freeview epg after reshuffle we customers need real TV channels not more sports. Now that prices for TV will be higher in December also phone line price too which you have to have to get BT TV |

I think there should be a BT Sport News channel, that is actually a genuine sports news channel as apposed to Sky Sports News which seems to focus mainly on football and mainly on the games that are live on Sky Sports.
A sports news channel, that has coverage of all the mainstream sports as well as minority sports (including events that BT Sports might not have the live rights too) from around the world. Obviously there would be "rights issues" to showing some of it, but having it as a genuine news channel (with highlights where possible) would be very popular. And a great exclusive channel for BT TV only. I wonder what BT Sport Extra will show? It says "even more live action, including football from around the world and other sporting events". Sounds promising, but I do like the approach that Sky have started doing - sport specific channels. BT could also do a European/World football channel, a motorsports channel, a tennis channel (with a few more events added).... I also think ESPN should be exclusively for American sports. Just my 2p worth..! |

Thanks for the info. Will have to take a look. It sounds good but not everyone that likes sport watches football. Hope the channel will be free like the other BT sport channels.
I'm all for someone trying to take Sky on. Do anyone know when the new channel will start or if in time this new channel will also be in HD. Darren |

The new channel does loads up when you visit the other BT sports channels and shows image, so at this time it may come with the others ...?

Why call it a "Red button" channel, when BT TV can not have the interactive red button? Just because that is what people have become used to? Why not simply say "and now over on BT Sport Extra there is live coverage of....". Or even BT Sport 3?!

It is "red button" on Sky. For BT TV, I presume the red button will come when Youview is updated.
