The end of HO?

We often have stunts, this is nothing new in the Chester village that is Hollyoaks. However, the hash tag #HollyoaksEndOfTheLine that accompanies the latest Hollyoaks trailer could be saying something.

It looks as though HO are to have 3 or 4 big stunts, lots of drama, tragedy etc over the Autumn period. This involves a lot of characters in different storylines ranging from the Hospital, a train track, an elevator and more. It seems as if most of the cast are involved in the up and coming stunts.... Is this their way of sending HO out on a high?

Is HO on it's way out, are they going out with a bang?

#HollyoaksEndOfTheLine

Just a thought.

I can see HO ending in 2 years time on its 21st, like Brookside did.

Nah,

#HollyoaksEndOfTheLine just refers to the train crash and associated deaths from that. Nothing more... I hope!

No, they're not losing ratings and they're target audience seems to be loving the trailer on twitter and I haven't seen one bad comment about it on there, they'd never cancel it. at least not yet anyway.

People on twitter think the actor who plays Freddie is a good actor, which really explains why you shouldn't take what people say on twitter serious

It probably means end of the line in the sense that a McQueen will die.

I imagine as one of the stunts, perhaps the biggest of the three, involves a train it's merely a play on words.

It's best not to over think anything Hollyoaks related

Hollyoaks is actually bucking the trend when it comes to soap ratings.
EastEnders and Corrie are having an appalling Summer ratings wise. Neighbours has been consistantly under 1mil for Five and even Doctors has fallen to sub 1.5 levels.
Hollyoaks is gaining 1.7-2.0 per episode (if you add the E4 eps)

End of the line is just a play on words as it's involving a train (train line) and also referring to the fact that people will die

I think Walker's death and the teasers for the showdown with Brendan was billed as "End of the line", I may be completely wrong though

Yes you should because unlike this forum that scrambles a couple of pages of replies, when people on twitter write about Hollyoaks it trends all the time, getting hit after hit - the trailer was trending earlier and loads of people are then seeing the trend and the show is getting attention. People don't trend stuff that they aren't interested in.

Twitter is the perfect place to find out what people generally think about the show and those people tweeting about it are the ones watching it so their opinion counts whether you agree with it as a view, which keeps the show on the air.

McDonald's is also an incredibly popular worldwide franchise. That makes it the perfect cuisine.

I don't know about anyone else but if I were a producer, or in a creatively professional position, I would rather read constructive feedback instead of endless "OMG!!!!!1111!!!" tweets that comprise most of the Hollyoaks Twitter fanbase.

Today's Hollyoaks caters for the shallow and creatively bankrupt who think the only way to get drama out of anything is to blow it up and kill off a few cardboard cutouts.

I would say that Twitter viewers are more likely to be fickle. Takes no effort to put 'OMG this looks great!' and stir up the hype.

And you can bet your bottom dollar that the second something shinier and newer pops up, those viewers will ditch Hollyoaks without a second thought. They are the worst possible audience to try and appeal to.

Who will be left watching when that happens? They've done a fine job alienating the long-term fans and I can't see many returning unless they seriously buck up their ideas.

For now Hollyoaks is safe. There has been no substantial dip in the ratings and it's just won Best Soap at the BSA's.

People have been comparing it to Brookside but they spent a lot of time trying to fix that show before finally admitting defeat.

Just like Brookside, they would cut costs and maybe episodes or bring in new producers to try and reinvigorate the show before considering cancelling it. I think when it comes, we'll all know and it won't be a shock.

I will admit that it's been pretty dire lately and it's showing similarities to the beginning of Brooksides demise about eight years before It was actually cancelled but it's got a few years of chances left yet.

I agree that at the moment the formula is 'successful' in that it keeps people tuned in, whether that's because they're excited by the plots, can't be bothered to change the channel, watch in the hope it'll get better or watch for the few good things that the show does have.

To me, the shocks are a short-term fix. They're doing things now that they won't be able to top in future years (unless the train crash is really shoddy) so they run the risk of making their other material look boring, such as the Roscoe 'love' triangle. Whilst it keeps people tuning in now, they won't when they realise that there will be no aftermath and all the characters will forget it happened come next week.

Saw a spoiler saying that Diane is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe she's hit by Sienna's car? There's a woman in the background.

There was something about Diane being attacked in one the magazines today. I can see Carmel being one the deaths, as great as character Mercdeses is, Carmel is the bubbly one that would upset viewers the most. I think Mercedes either needs to go to prison, or go to be with her son.
