Played by a new actor, but Roberts back to cause Angry Thugden more agro.
Does this mean Katies head will be turned once again?

Highly unlikely, given the circumstances.

They should of asked the original back or left it as it is

I'm sure Karl Davies would have returned. Wonder why they decided on a recast hmm...

Shame it's not Karl as he is brilliant (loved him in Happy Valley especially) but will look forward to seeing the new actor in the role.

Looking at his IMDB page, he seems to be having quite a busy year, so he's probably just not available, (or doesn't want to get typecast as a soap actor again).

The recast won't work.

Oh gosh, I don't like recasts either. Specially when the original actor was so good.

Wonder why on earth they felt a need to bring Robert back?

As dreadful a producer i think Kate Oates is i dont think even she's poor enough to have Katie and Robert have another affair. They were also history long before Robert left so i dont see why they'd have feelings for eachother again. Robert is also engaged so no doubt he'll be arriving with his partner.
My guess is they are just going to try and rebuild the Sugdens as a family.

Loads of soap characters have been recast and often for the better. Kate Ford is brilliant as Tracey Barlow and totally transformed the character into this vile but hilarious character.

He was also in 'Kingdom' with Stephen Fry. He played comedy very well in that.

Also, it's worth pointing out that Karl Davies himself was actually a recast. He was not the original Robert Sugden.
I hope they don't cast a pretty boy ' nice bod, shame about the lack of character' type as they tend to do with recasts these days.

Kate Oates is NOT a dreadful producer, she has improved it for me since Stuart Blackburn left.

The poor ratings have shown what a bad job she's been doing.

I must be the only one but I didn't mind Stuart Blackburn on ED

Stuart Blackburn brought Megan into the show. For that, he should never be hated.

Spoiler
Apart from all the crap he's produced before and after that moment

He's Steven Spielberg when compared to Kate Oates.

Possibly because he's a successful actor and doesn't want to come back.

Nor did I. He was an improvement (slight, but still...) on Gavin Blyth. He had the awful Steve Frost/November as his boss for a time so maybe he didn't get to do what he wanted.

I hope this leads to a good storyline for Victoria Sugden, which is long overdue.

You do realise that Karl as Robert was also a recast don't you?

He wasn't even that good in Emmerdale. When I think of Robert I always think of the previous actor. He will always be Robert in my eyes. Karl Davies didn't make the role for me which is why I've always thought he's easily replaceable.

Jack Sugden had two different actors playing him, I think Sarah Sugden had a recast as well. Just following on with tradition.
