Not until I read this thread, no! I don't go that far back with Emmerdale. I consider myself duly enlightened. I really liked Karl as Robert though, so I guess he's "my" Robert.

But hey, he's been gone a fair few years now, so as long as the actor's decent, it might not matter. Plus like Janet said, if they're building the Sudgen's back up, it might give Victoria more to do.

Not forgetting that Victoria was also another recast.

As long as they've got a decent actor to play him then it could work.

If it's a pretty boy who has no presence he will fail.

Karl Davies is instantly recognisable to me for what he did in the role so they can't mess it up.

He was a horrible, greasy, trouble making little worm!
That role is now taken by Ross, so Robert will need to change to work this time round.
I really hope he doesn't ruin Andy and Katie!

Fair point. If Karl is the first 'Robert' you watched, then of course he would be 'your' Robert in the same way as Clive Hornby is my Jack, despite being the second actor to play him.

She is not doing a bad job she is doing a brilliant job I don't care about ratings When Stuart Blackburn was in charge i gave up watching Emmerdale and know that he is gone and Kate Oates is in charge I never miss an episode.

SB got rid of Carl King. Enough said. Anyone would be an improvement on him.
Carl & Chas had such a long standing history that it was such a shame to see it go.

Also, I like Kate Oates. I love her interviews. She really seems to understand the show IYSWIM?

Yes, seen the old Victoria in `in the club` I remember everyone saying she was crap but she was really good in it. Was quite surprised!

I like Kate, but I'm sure she must have asked Karl to return? If not she must have her reasons.

But do you not think that for a live episode that somebody big had to die, it wouldn't of worked if it was say Jimmy.

Priya is a brilliant recast! Totally makes the role her own, although it's not like the other one was there for long.

The new Robert certainly has that mean and moody look about him though I'm not too keen on all those tats.

I'm pretty sure too that they must have asked Karl to return but as he's so busy he declined, or perhaps he doesn't want to do soap again? I think it's a shame as I'd have liked to have seen Karl back but nevertheless I'll give this new lad a chance. He could be so good he makes the part his own and everyone will be saying "Karl who?"

Really liked the portrayal of Robert by Karl Davies who was able to give the character many layers so it is going to be extremely difficult to accept another actor playing the role.I am willing to give the new actor a chance though.

I totally agree with you on that, Cameron killed her but Carl got the blame.

For the love of God, can we not just wait and see how the actor does before we start whinging?
