Would anyone have any theory of why the Outlook app on Android would constantly sync despite what setting you use for syncig and use 1.29GB in ten days? This bug has me puzzled. Microsoft refuse to acknowledge an issue (they blame the phone) and there are no viruses or malware present which could trigger such data usage.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Think of a second have you been a victim of a 'mailbomb' or email bomb you may call it attack? Has someone sent you a attachment maybe your phone glitched and kept downloading the emails. Is your phone set to check for new emails every 0.3ms?

It could be down to Android or Outlook.

I use exactly the same App on a Chinese Cubot GT-99, I leave my phone on 24/7 and so it constantly syncs day and night, and so far this month it has only used 47mb of data.

Assuming you use the latest version of the App, then it would tend to rule out an App based issue or i'd be seeing similar usage. Have you checked the feedback on the Google play site for the App to see whether any of the recent reviews highlight similar problems to yours?

Funny you should mention this. A friend of mine said last week this had happened to him with the Android Outlook app on his Sony Xperia. His whole 1Gb limit was used up in days. He's looking for a solution too.

If talking about the OWA app for Exchange users, try resetting the app via its settings.

I did look on the Play Store and whatever negative reviews have been posted, it seems to be for the very opposite reasons, no syncing occurring whatsoever!

Just the regular Outlook.com app from the Play Store.

Its reassuring to see someone else report the same issue, unfortunate that Microsoft dismissed it as a phone issue earlier today. It backs up my assertion that there is a bug somewhere down the line (and a costly one in terms of battery power and cash for those not on AYCE or generous data allowances).
