I've not seen tonights episode yet but the stuff between Charity & Declan is really heating up, I think it's clear he knows the truth and is playing Charity at the moment as part of a bigger plan to get revenge. I've no idea what he intends to do but I bet it goes wrong and Charity walks away victorious again but having lost everything she's fought to keep hold of. Surely that would her comeuppance. I have a horrible feeling Declan is going to be leaving in a body bag though and Charity is going to be feeling very guilty about how her lies have grown and grown leading to this tragic conclusion when she's just finally realised that she does actually love him. No matter how dastardly Charity gets you can't help but want to see her come out on top.

Debbie should be grateful that Charity claimed she had the abortion instead, it means Pete Boreton has gone and she's free to find someone who won't induce a coma. A return from Jasmine would be nice with Debbie thinking they're going to make a go of things but then have Jasmine end up with Ruby and force Ali to leave. I loved the actress that plays Ali in Shameless but she's awful in Emmerdale. I was wondering if the actress has a health problem that is impacting on her ability to perform, I noticed her arms looked dreadfully thin the other week in a scene.

Despite Edna being around for along time we still know very little about her and every time they delve into her history it always feels believable and not contrived, I'm guessing that's due to Shirley Stelfox being a fantastic actress and being able to potray the character in a way that makes it all seem plausible. You could sense the guilt and regret that Edna was supposed to have endured all these years. At first I did wonder why reveal the truth now after all these years and especially to Aaron, although I suppose Aaron being behind bars and the fact Edna reported his return feels like history repeating itself for her. As much as I don't condone her reporting her husband and his lover we have to remember that 50 years ago the church frowned upon homosexuality and this would have been against what Edna believed to be right. It would have been personally difficult also as the person she believed loved her and had married her was simply using her to cover up his secret life.

I do feel they could have had Laurence survive his ordeal and Edna seek him out to apologise for what she did, he could have attempted suicide whilst inside but survived and then we could have explored what it was like for an older gay man to grow up in that environment and look at how they've adapted to changes in society. Homosexuality is always done using young characters however there are plenty of older gay people out there with interesting stories to tell. It's a pity Emmerdale never used this opportunity to explore that.

Another thing I would have liked acknowledged when Aaron was putting on his front as being strong and claiming he wasn't like Laurence, is Edna pointing out that she knows that isn't true as she remembers him locking himself in the garage when he first come out with the car engine running. At the moment they're making Aaron very cold and hard like Debbie was, to acknowledge his vulnerable side would make him more human and tolerable.

Bib - I wonder if that is actually where this story is going?

As far as the story has been told to us - Edna's husband told her he had died.
At the moment we don't know if she followed that up or just took his word for it.

That's a good point which I never considered and surely this revelation has to be leading somewhere. If Harold knew Edna was the one that reported them to the police then he may have lied to her about Laurence killing himself to make her feel guilty, imagine living with that burden for all these years to then discover it wasn't actually true.

I think out the two of them Jasmine turning round and saying she's actually a lesbian wouldn't be a shock. Plus her pairing with Ruby would only be a temporary thing until she finally ended up with Debbie giving viewers what they want, it would be far too simple to just throw them back together. Out of all the relationships Debbie has had it was her pairing with Jasmine which had the best chemistry, which would mean getting Jenna Louise Coleman back as it may not have the same sparkle with another actress in the role, there was something about Charley and Jenna working together which worked extremely well.
