I do agree with the fact it was over too fast

I thought it was a pretty decent stunt, not over the top, or over done.

Tosh , being a fire woman, should have made them all back away due to the risk of an explosion....

If you saw the last hollyoaks stunt than you might not be saying that. BK stunts haven't been great since the blast. The recent car crash was awful.”

You're right there. They got a little too arty farty with that crash and it was hilarious.

Yes, I know you're talking about the episode, which contained the Kat and Alfie storyline we are discussing.

It wasn't too bad but I did love how we had about a minute shot of just looking at everyone's faces because we never cut to Alfie & Kat. I like the editing effect when Alfie was forced on the street by the blaze and him looking at Mick while Stacey spoke to him. I also loved how the actual fire fighter character never went in the building at all.

I also like how it included Tamwar and actually echoed how Zainab reacted when she seen the Millers fire all those years ago and Tracey got a word

The make-up was good on Alfie & Kat.

All in all, not a bad episode but not the best stunt I have seen in a soap, the show isn't known for them tbh, but the best EastEnders has done in a while.

Hmmm - I think those basing it purely as a 'stunt episode' have the wrong idea. The story isn't about how big the explosion is, it's about the aftermath for Kat & Alfie / Tamwar possibly

..... that said, I felt like the pacing of the episode was pretty off. Half the episode was dedicated to the buildup and boring Sharon dialogue and then we barely saw any of the actual fire which I thought was pretty disappointing.

Overall I'd say the story line looks very decent, but the actual episode was pretty forgettable considering the hype. Rightly or wrongly, viewers tune into a fire episode because they want the tension and the drama - which I felt lacked pretty severely.

Hopefully all of Alfie's horrific shirts are burnt to shit

We knew right from the start that the stunt wasn't going to be the main element of this storyline. And house fires aren't amazing and spectacular in real life, so why should be they be portrayed as such on EastEnders?

I did think there'd be more focus on the fire, but otherwise I thought it was pitch-perfect. It took the sensational element out of it as well because the fire was so small.

The whole house exploded- how is that a small fire?

I really enjoyed it although would have preferred more of the fire stuff.

Why didn't Tosh go in? Or at least offer advice etc she just stood there like a lemon while young guys ran in and risked death.

Tosh is pregnant maybe she didn't want to risk the baby? She did say to get some blankets and she was helping Johnny and Kat when they came out of the fire.

I was mostly surprised that Tosh didn't at least attempt to move everyone back - she stood there with her gob hanging open and then sprung into action with a fire blanket when they all started running back out.

Not every soap has the luxury of making a car turn over 20 times after being hit by the world's smallest van going 2 miles per hour.
