Totally agree. In dark storylines Shane really shines. I've enjoyed watching him in this storyline and l loved watching him when Alfie finally found out about Derek and he went ape and chucked Kat out of the Vic!

Me too. I still don't understand the insurance bit (does anyone really? ) but other than that he has portrayed someone coming to the end of their tether, and making the bad decisions that can go with that, incredibly well.

Quite frankly I don't give a stuff what the actor does in his personal life as long as it doesn't involve animals or children. I know that not everyone is like this though.

Nope, I don't understand the insurance scam. So unbelievable that they wouldn't have money for rent, food etc but have kept up the insurance premiums (often one of the first bills to not get paid by people in financial straits). Also, does he not realise they would have to use the money to actually replace the damaged or destroyed furniture and if it had been contained to the lounge it wouldn't have been much money anyway? Certainly not enough to clear 6 months rent arrears, get even cheap replacements and see them okay for a few weeks. And it would take some time to pay out pending the fire brigades report. Unfortunately I have actually lived at a house where there was a fire that gutted one room (2 minutes more it would have got into the loft and the whole house would have gone) and it was an electrical fault, no funny business which the Brigade told the insurance company within hours and it still took ages for everything to be sorted.

But of course Alfie was planning on exagarating how much everything destroyed or damaged was worth and of course isn't thinking straight because he is desperate.

I also don't care about actor's personal lives. I'm perfectly capable of disliking (or even hating) the artist whilst loving the art. I'm not too keen on some of the things I've read about Steve McFadden or Les Grantham but it doesn't stop me thinking they are both great actors who have created iconic characters in EE.

It is more Richie's comments about his importance to the show that get my back up than who he chooses to sleep with. That's his and his family's business - nobody else's.

I have always thought Shane was a good actor, he was really good last night.

I loathe Alfie. The cheeky chappy act is pathetic and not remotely entertaining or funny. The idea that the Square's sexist women in Kat and Roxy would fall for him is ridiculous. And the way we are supposed to feel sympathy for him when he is a workshy idiot who won't take responsibility for his situation infuriates me.

Yes, Shane Richie puts in a great performance when the script allows, but unfortunately most of the time we get this one dimensional buffoon.

The acting is fine. The character is atrocious.

Did we get a lot of wrong information about this storyline.

WAsnt it mentioned on here when the fire started, the whole family were going to be in the house.

Then we had it would be like the Philpott fire.

When in reality, we saw Alfie only really wanted to start a small fire, to damage the front room, why he didn't see the hair products though I don't no.

I have always been an Alfie fan

I am indifferent to Shane in real life but he is a good actor, I have never seen anything to say otherwise. When he is given gritty material, he really shines. I think, like other characters/actors, some folk are just determined to hate on him.
He really pulled it out of the bag last night.

Best scene of the Ep for me was, when we saw Alfie's head at like pavement level, and after hearing Shane on This Mirning yesterday, saying how it was all filmed very impressive.

Also by what Shane said, a lot of money went into it.

I don't hate him, just never been a big Alfie fan and I'd rather like to see Kat without him as she as a standalone character is ten times what they are together.

That being said, he was good last night and I'm looking forward to the fallout. I just can't help hoping when it all comes out Alfie will hop on the next train out of there.

I'm a Alfie fan as well as a Shane fan, I could name about 10 characters I don't like rather than Alfie.

I think it's just on this forum people moan about him, he's very popular and yes he is a good actor.

Last night when they were Discussing where would Dot stay until she could get back in her house.

Surely Carol would have Taken Dot in, the tardis is empty, now Bianca, and the kids have left.

He's another actor in soaps that's ok when they have a storyline but when there just there isn't very good, I'm not an Alfie fan, mainly because of the years if the the pointless and unrealistic cheeky chappy bit. Even last night he was being told by people, you can get over this your Alfie moon! It's just ham.

The shows a million times better since he got out the vic but he needs a purpose so I say again give Alfie the cafe,

It is good to hear peoples different opinions, I loved Kat and Alfie in the Vic.

Where as personally, I find the Carters, as dull as dishwater, only one I like is Mick.

If I was EP, I would kill them all bar Mick

I don't think it was so much wrong, but stretched a little bit to conceal the fact that it was Alfie that started it, and to keep us in suspense as to whether anyone would die. The original reports were wrong in that they said Stacey, Jean and Mo were in there (especially Jean, since it seems she's been and gone,) but technically, Alfie, Kat and the kids were there. Alfie was left with the kids when Kat went out, but because he was the arsonist, he took them to Whitney's first. When they announced around a month later that Kat would be left with the injuries, the arsonist didn't know she was there and Kat wasn't supposed to be there, more suspicion was pointed in Alfie's direction.

Maybe Carol was going on the assumption that they would already have the kids and possibly Stacey, since they knew Kat was in a bad way and that their house would be uninhabitable.

Liam is still there so they probably only cleared one room (assuming Whitney shared with Tiff and Liam with Morgan. I think it's a 4 bed place, so that seems the most likely.)

He's no Oscar winner but looking at the characters playing Poker he was the best actor in that room.

To be fair Lou you're vile about the actor that plays Lee Carter.

He was brilliant again last night, I thought he was going to cry when he saw that everyone had rallied round for him and Kat, shame he got upset with them though but I suppose he felt a bit overwhelmed by their kindness and they don't know the truth.

His scenes with Kat were very poignant and beautifully done.

And what about that look Alfie shot Aleks when he said 'if there's anything I can do'? If looks could kill Aleks would have been ten foot under!
