Tamwars story wasn't explored since BK was in charge at the time. Hence why it was forgotten.

I am just watching now on iplayer - already irritated as the blurb says that "Alfie risks his life to save his family". Are we really meant to see the moronic arsonist as a hero?

Yes.

What Alfie did was dangerous and very stupid indeed but he didn't do it for a laugh.

It was the action of a desperate man who saw no other way out.

I've watched it now. While I really do enjoy Shane Richie's acting when he is given dramatic stuff to do, I can't feel sympathy for Alfie as he has been written as such a complete arse these last few months. The aftermath of all this should be great though so for the first time in ages I find myself interested in a storyline that revolves around my least favourite character on the show.

Did feel the shoehorning in of Johnny as a hero was a bit unnecessary - did his popularity slide a bit after Sharon's attack I wonder?

And I really hope they give Nancy and Tamwar some screen time for him to open up to her about his past. The actor is capable of doing so much more than giving us "Tambore" and I like the friendship that's developing between these two.

No never got emotional, not even when slapper slater thought bert or ernie was in there as well, no doubt next week will see kat covered in slap without so much as scar and it will be business as usual, with the eternal looser Alfie scurring round the square trying to raise 6 months rent money plus what he owes the vat man buy selling cheap tat out of a carrier bag.

I did at one point think Roxy had tumbled that looser moon had started the fire, then realised she just did'nt want him to run in there. I mean it is a bit of leap to think the EE writers could come up with something subtle like that.

I hope things get a lot worse for Alfie with the truth coming out and the whole Square turning their back on him rather than rallying round. For those of us who hate him it would be great to see him hit rock bottom and for the fans, they can feel all sympathetic as clearly none of it is his fault and poor Alfie deserves to be treated like a hero despite the fact that he's a liar, a conman and an arsonist.

I did have a tear in my eye when Alfie was being "bandaged" up in the hospital bed and crying for Kat.

I was bawling my little eyes out. Tears of happiness mind you, Alfie being unhappy brings me unimaginable joy. As for Tamwar he dragged Nancy back to his sex dungeon for a night of sarcastic passion.

I love the idea of sarcastic passion.

"Did you enjoy that?"
"Yes, it was the best time I've ever had. As an encore I'm going to tear my fingernails out with pliers."

I can't speak for all Alfie's other fans but I don't recall saying that none of this was his fault, I think he's been a stupid idiot and he's lied and schemed but that doesn't mean I have to turn against him, I mean, his idea of smoke damaging the living room was a totally different scenario to what actually happened, those hair products were Mo's, (she who doesn't pay the rent and who was living it up in the Vic without a care in the world even though she and her family were being evicted) not Alfie's and Kat wasn't supposed to be at home, if Alfie had known the hair products were in the room he would have removed them and if he'd known Kat was home he would have tried to get her to go out again.

He really didn't mean to harm anyone, especially not Kat or his family, he wanted a little bit of smoke damage that is all, not a massive explosion!

And Albert Square probably won't find out the real truth for a good while yet and if they do turn against him then fair enough but it will be a drop in the ocean compared to the hate and guilt he will feel for himself, no prison or punishment will be anything compared to knowing he is responsible for the injuries his stupidity has caused his best friend and lover, mother of his children, Kat, he will be reminded of it every time he sees her and when she finds out the truth he will probably lose her.
