So just finished the demo in just less than an hour. At first my thoughts on the battle system were justified, a load of rubbish of just holding "circle" and watching him fight. But by the end of the demo I had totally changed my mind, was really fun and I can't wait for this to release even more now. How many gem things did people get? I found 299 and missed one that I couldn't get back to. Did anyone see a purpose in them?
Anyway, ultimately this has proven to be a definite day one purchase for me, can't wait. |

I thought the demo was ok, not particularly impressive graphics wise and I think the general controls are a bit clunky, but it was ok for a tech demo. I am buying it day 1 no matter what. And carbuncle was beyond cute, he's like an Arctic fox and I named him Gizmo. |

Love Final Fantasy, but felt a bit disappointed with the demo. Eh...

The combat here is pretty bare bones, from reading the Gaf thread a lot of the customisation and strategy just isn't there, especially without the other party members. I also figured that you don't have to hold the buttons, it's much more satisfying to tap buttons when needed.

Is it that short then, I wasn't going to spend hours trying to finish it just for 1 'summon' or 'GF' as I remember it. Considering it'll likely be a DLC. I may download the demo if that's the case.

Tried to explore and collect all those yellow gem things (don't know what they were for) and ended up with 362 by the time I finished the demo. Fought 2 bosses at the end. The first one was a piece of piss but then I stood on a disc and a level 15 boss appeared and took a little longer to die. 50 minutes in total but could be completed in 1/3 of the time.
Overall, I thought the graphics were nice in places, the score was good & I liked the creature control but I also felt the camera was clunky, the combat was a bit dull & it's done little to make me interested in a game I wasn't too fussed about in the first place. |

I'll be getting the demo this weekend and making my own mind up but friends of mine who have played it haven't been that impressed.

What a strange demo. Its really there to showcase the technical aspects of the game and only the final part resembles the actual game.
Thought the boss fight was great. Carbuncle was adorable too. |

I played through the demo, pretty crap tbh. Not happy with it being an action rpg, ff isn't a button basher. From the start it felt like 1/2 second input lag on character movement and jumping. I will still keep my pre order, day one purchase for me, since there isn't anything else rpg wise coming out on xbox.
I hope they get the sales they want, maybe it will get mistwalker and Microsoft to do sequels to blue dragon and lost ldyssee. |

FFXV does seem to have a wider appeal with a large world which the gaming industry loves atm and the action gameplay which is more accessible to a casual gamer. I hope it does well too but we have to accept that if it does it would bring in a whole new set of fans. Would be interesting to see how this would impact the series. Also there is a hidden sheild and shruiken weapons in the final area of the demo. Might try them out later. |

Just had another go of the demo. It is still meh. I did get the secret weapons, but it is still meh. Just as well I have the xbox elite controller, I will be setting the dpad to the paddles. I got the shield and it is classed as a weapon, so going to be important to switch between shield and lets say sword on boss battles. I really don't like the character movement and response time, it really does fell like a ps1 game. I do like the graphics though.

Thought the boss fight was great. Carbuncle was adorable too. I enjoyed it, but it did seem a very strange section of the game to use for a demo. I've been following this game for a decade now, and I played through Episode Duscae a year ago, and this demo really doesn't feel representative of the game we're getting. I really do wonder why Square Enix choose this particular section of the game to use. Anyway, other than that, it was very good. Love the magic, that part was missing from Episode Duscae, loved turning into animals in the town square part, Titan and Leviathan looked amazing, and the boss battle was great ![]() Can't wait for September 30th

The Japanese trailer is great. I got a much better sense of what the story is about. I think Im piecing a few bits together now.
And I was watching a youtube video and some dude said that what we played in the trailer isnt actually part of the game but a standalone piece. Not sure how much truth is in that. |

I finished the demo, Any idea if we need to keep the demo installed for the game to recognise that we've earnt Carbuncle as a summon?
As for the demo, It certainly didn't feel or play like a FF game at all. I found it ok as a game though. |

First time FF player here.
If that demo is in any way representative of a game that has been in development for over a decade, I despair. Dreadful from start to finish. |

It turns out this Platinum Demo is actually a tech demo to show off various aspects of the Luminous Engine such as dynamic lighting and weather on PS4 and X1 which we control by walking over the associated buttons.

So the prequel-y film Kingsglaive came out today on digital release.
Gonna watch it tomorrow as I've heard some very good things about it. Anyone seen it or planning on seeing it ? |
