Have enjoyed the Capaldi episodes we have had so far, but I'm starting to wonder when we will actually see 12 save the world. There have been 4 (admittedly good) stories so far which have all been focused on small localised event's involving either just the doctor and Clara or the residents of the surrounding area. Judging by the trailer for next weeks it looks like that will be a 'smaller' type story too.

Don't get me wrong, I like the smaller stories if done well as much as the bigger one's, and there have been times in the past where I have rolled my eye's on hearing 'the whole world is at stake' once again and in those times have appreciated these smaller type tales, but now there seems to be a distinct lack of the bigger stories and I'm wondering when we might see the a big budget style epic whole world at stake type story, so we can see 12 truly feel completely like the doctor by saving the world.

Probably in the finale. Maybe even in In the Forest of the Night (synopsis sounds like saving the world).

But, I much prefer clever localised events than action-oriented megalomanical invasions...

Sick of him saving the entire world/galaxy/universe/time itself/existence etc etc. It became like a constant attempt to get bigger and sillier every season until there was nowhere left to go. Feels more like Doctor Who again now.

Good. It gets tedious when the Doctor goes around saving the world/galaxy/universe/whole of creation/all of time & space etc. etc. & so forth all the time. I much prefer the 'small localised events'.

AND to Saladfingers too!
I am also fed up of the Doctor rescuing the ENTIRE universe....errm a bit boring now?!
"this could be the end of the entire universe and all of time !!" SHIT! It never is and stop saying that!! Let's go back to to straightforward normal stories on a strange planet with aliens and a solution at the end of it! "This is the worst thing that can ever happen - it means the end of the entire Universe" does not work anymore!! THINK smaller!!

Caretaker / Kill the Moon / Forest of the Night / Dark Water / Death in Paradise are all contenders for the entire world.

YAY!! High Five !! Says it all

As I said in my opening post, i've often grown sick of the entire fate of the world constantly being at stake, as it's often too frequent, and I like a balance between bigger and smaller stories, but now I'm missing that type of story just because we haven't had one with Capaldi yet. Given that 'saving worlds' is often a phrase used when describing the doctor, it would be nice to see what that looks like with him as 12. I feel it's the last part of the checklist (e.g get, outfit, take on daleks etc) for a new doctor that we have yet to see with 12.It would really give his doctor a chance to flex his muscles so to speak and really remind us why the doctor is the doctor.

The Whooooinverse has been saved soooo many times!! The end of time has been regurgitated over and over again! We are not impressed
Let's have a normal problem on a strange planet (Earth - if necessary!) and solve it!
Simple!
The fact that the Doctor says (every time!) "This could be the end of the entire Universe" is wearing a bit thin to say the least!
Let's get back to basics!!

I'd have thought it was a really good thing that the Doctor is not saving the world every week. That was one of the irritating things about the RTD era that carried over to Smith's Doctor. Too many epic stories, it became nauseating and in the end you just didn't care and found it hard to believe any of it.

Its only been four episodes, give the man a chance!

Its best he doesn't save the world too often, that way its more of an event when it finally happens. I'm sure he'll get a biggie eventually and if they make us wait for it, it will be more of a payoff when it occurs.
