Who Likes Peter Barlow?
FusionFury

I think he's hilarious and a great believable actor

Who remembers this corker?

"it's not a trip to your flamin local bingo hall"

And when Deidre said when she visited him in prison "have you met anyone nice in here?"

"no i haven't met anyone nice"

Him and Rob make the show and are Legends.

I do, I think he's a great character and will miss him when he goes. No matter what the situation, how good things are, how bad thing are, peter can be relied on to royally screw things up for himself. Makes for great viewing.

Who can forget that corker!

The fact that Peter Barlow is a sympathetic character and one whom I love is testament to Chris Gascoyne's portrayal he is a wonderful actor and plays the drunk so believably that I can smell the alcohol coming off him through my TV.

Blanche was wonderful in that scene even when she wasn't speaking.....just the look on her face .......Corrie did so well when she was cast many years ago as Deidre's Mum they even looked alike! I still miss seeing her on the show

Totally agree with you Lucy. Love Peter and love Chris. Also miss Blanche.

I don't like Peter at all, I think we'll fine more FM support him though, but maybe that's because I haven't watched his journey this time round? He was horrible to Shelley, awful to Leanne, a sh*t to Tina and Carla. I really loathe him.

I really like Peter and always have, though the Tina affair almost put me off him.

I agree he's a good actor - really convincing and with a great range. I'm sorry he's leaving, but hasn't he left before and returned? I'm hoping he'll be back in the future.

I like him and didn't know he was leaving until reading this. A good actor, he is pretty convincing as a drunk. I did however, get annoyed with the whole Tina storyline, but that wasn't really his fault.

No; the character has been ruined.

I think the prison scenes with Peter, Jim and Clelland ( I think that is the name of Peter's cellmate) are very well done; you can feel the tension and the fear. When Peter is found not guilty, as I assume he will, will he be compensated for his time in prison as an innocent man?

Those were his story lines

Surely, if you 'dislike' his persona -that is testament to his great acting skills.

I doubt it. He's remanded in custody awaiting trial, so by definition he's innocent. As is anyone else in that position.

He might have a case against the police for wrongful arrest, on the grounds they had no evidence.

As Peter is on remand (innocent until proved guilty) would he be put in a prison with hardened criminals like Jim and Clelland?

I know those were his storylines but Peter was a bit of sh*t in them, I was just stated that maybe if I had watched his character more day to day rather than seeing his reaction to the bigger things I would like him more?

Clelland is also awaiting trial I believe, so it would make sense to put the two together. Jim on the other hand is a little less believing.
I love Peter as a actor, but Tina story line was unrealistic in my eyes. I think him and Carla bounce perfectly off each other and were fantastic together.

I asked that (about Jim, anyway) a while ago on a different thread, and I was told it's perfectly possible they can mingle.

I sometimes like him, sometimes hate him. It depends what he's doing at the time. He's had some very funny scenes, like the AA meeting, but done some awful things that have pissed me off. Recently I loved the scene with Rob after the hotel business when the later cottoned on to the affair via a pen, and Peter asked Rob if he was "feeling the big man with his special biro."

It was funny Peter's scene with Carla when she found out about the affair with Tina. "Was he she so much better than me". Peter: "No not better, just different".
