Shirley has many faults and has done many bad things but she's far less loathsome than Sharon.

I thought that might be the case. I often see posts where people are determined to hate on certain characters, even when they have done nothing wrong! Haha.

Shirley will never apologize to anybody for anything, least of all Sharon who she hated before she even met her and has been nasty to her from the moment she came back.

Sharon may have given as good as she got at ooints but shirley started it, constantly sniping at her months before Sharon got reinvolved with Phil.

I don't recall her 'making his life a living hell'. I remember she was angry, which is understandable and then they made peace before she left. But can we put it in perspective that Jay did keep quiet about Ben and lie to her for months...

Really? When did Sharon abandon 4 kids, deal drugs, blackmail her family, treat her best mate like a slave, burn down a pub, offer drugs to a crack addict, plie an alcoholic with booze, drown a baby and bully people? The worst thing she's ever done is ruin her own marriage

Maybe a living he'll is over stating it but she did pin him up against a wall and try and get Patrick to throw him out of the B+B when she knew he had nowhere else to go and no money as Phil had sacked him.

Yes, he covered up Heather's death but pohil pressured him into it and shirley knew that. She didn't go to the Police about Phil or tell anyone in the community so he got off scot free but blamed Jay for it all who was little more than a child.

There's no point apologising if you don't even mean it. Shirley 'apologises' then goes back to being her nasty self. Maybe she is more sincere with her baby Mick. But she doesn't care two hoops about the rest of them, unless she sees something in it for herself.

When and what for?
Mick and tina for them being taken into care but that wasn't actually her fault.
Heather? I don't remember that and she was horrible to her about her marrying Andrew straight before she died.

I'd like to see her apologise to people she has actually wronged - like dot and Andrew and Patrick for keeping quiet about Phil's role in the cover up of Heather's death. They still don't know the truth so can't get proper justice.

I'd like to see her apologise to Denise for egging Kevin on to drive a maniac and also keeping quiet about Phil's involvement for the cut and shuts.

But maybe that is just me.

Oh I'm not claiming she's as bad a person, I just find her much more repellent personally. For everything Shirley's done I still find her watchable, Sharon just does my head in.

Carley - For abandoning her when she was young
Dean - Same reason
Kevin - for leaving him on his own with three children and not being there for jimbo
Heather - anytime after they had an argument and she said sorry after she died thinking it was her fault
andrew: for not believing him when he said he didnt kill heather

She apologized to Mick in the reveal episode.
Carly - when she came back to visit Shirley after Phil called her, they had a heart to heart and Shirley apologized for everything.
Andrew - When she found out he hadn't killed Heather, she said sorry to him in the square and the solved their differences.
She apologized to Hev numerous times, she did the Christmas before Hev left when Phil brought Hev over and they made up.
Dean - when he returned.
Kevin - before he died.

It would be nice twist if Shirley reveals Phil's role in the coverup of Heather's murder at the wedding and then Phil turn the tables on her and reveals to the guests that she knew all along and did nothing apart from try to get back into his pants. I'd love to see Patrick and Dot's reactions. Would be even better if DCI Marsden is lurking in the shadows and arrests them both for perverting the course of justice

What about an apology to jimbo? You know for abandoning him and not even bothering to turn up for his funeral. Such a top Mother. Not.

I don't think it's quite right that she doesn't apologise EVER -she does, but only when it's in her interests. She would never offer a sincere apology to somebody if she wasn't getting satisfied be it financially or emotionally. That bitter cow doesn't have a selfless bone in her heavily contaminated body.

I find it amusing that people hate Shirley so very much - but give Philth a free pass on all his despicable crimes and behaviour over the years.

In my personal opinion (and this is just my opinion I don't expect anybody else to share it or agree with it) it just isn't enough. She may have apologised to Heather but she just used to hurt her again, the last time being straight before she died due to arguing about her marriage.

So she apologised to Andrew for having branded him a killer falsely. Fine, but she didn't tell him everything she knew about the cover up so let him and Heather's memory down.

She's never said sorry to Ian for helping to burn his restaurant down.

I don't think she really said sorry to Jay for trying to get him evicted from the B+B. They may have resolved their differences but she didn't say sorry.

I'm not saying she's worse than a lot of other characters because she's not but that isn't really saying much.
