Yep, me too. It really, really rankles with me that everybody else that loved Heather still don't know the full story of the cover up and that they haven't been able to challenge Phil over it.

I was thinking the very same thing...

I hate that the writers made Shirley cover up Phil's part in Heathers murder. But then I also think it was a mistake making Ben her killer.

But as somebody pointed out below she only ever apologies if it is in her interest to which somewhat detracts from the sincerity of it in my opinion but that is just my opinion.

Oh I don't excuse Phil, I think that they are as horrible as each other!

I disagree. I don't see how apologising to Mick, Carly, Andrew, Tina and so on benefited her in anyway. I think it was genuine on her part.

I actually wish sharon and Shirley had become friendly. I find the constant battle lines/love rivalry between them tiresome

I was saying this too. They would make a formidable duo and I think they would work awesomely well as friends. Linda H and Letitia D work so well together that I think they are missing a trick pitting them against each other all the time. I'd like to see them have a Pat/Peggy frenemieship.

For most of them as they are her family and she occasionally has an epithany where she realises she actually doesn't want to die a lonely old woman in the gutter and wants to make herself feel better by having them in her life... until she messes up again. Andrew, I'll concede as a one-off.

I doubt Shirley would ever be so humble

Oh it is tiresome but I'd rather they had nothing to do with each other...ever. Give me Shirley and her family, Shirley and Denise, Shirley and Dot, even Shirley and Ben. I'm hoping that when this pathetic s/l is over they never have anything to do with each other again.

Shirley works so well with all the above characters, its a shame she doesn't get many scenes with them anymore.

It will never happen. Shirley is gagging for Phil and being a snarly bitch us her raison d'etre. I just can't see it. I would like Sharon to study the ancient art of Wicca and raise the dead Watts for a Day of Reckoning against Phil but instead she'll just shuffle off with the bar and get engaged to Ian.

Mick has the pub, which she has muscled in on, if he was a bog cleaner she wouldn't be as interested in him. So she benefits from him. Maybe a little guilty as she knows he's her son and feels a little guilty for hiding it for so long. But she knows if she says sorry she benefits.

She apologised to Carly for abandoning her, but tell me when was the last time she has ever bothered going to see her? Quite a while. So she's not that sorry. Doesn't give a rats arse about her grandson either.

Tina's not very bright so Shirley can get away with a half arsed sorry to her. but really she's done no wrong where Tina is concerned. Not a lot to apologise over. But she benefits from being the concerned big sister with Tina, and gets her on her side.

I think maybe guilt was eating away at her which prompted that apology. She had a moment of self awareness.

Too bloody right he should.

Still bamboozles me that two women are fighting over the human tomato and he gets to 'choose' What the f...!

You forgot Ian's restaurant, but apparently he deserved that for covering up Heather's murder *roll eyes* Didn't matter to 'I'm all heart, me!' Shirley that the pressure had actually make the poor bloke crack up and live on the streets for months! Nah, sod that. As soon as he gets back on his feet he deserves to have his restaurant burnt by her and her fellow cackling witches. Made me mad as hell that they never got found out

Heather? I don't remember that and she was horrible to her about her marrying Andrew straight before she died.

I'd like to see her apologise to people she has actually wronged - like dot and Andrew and Patrick for keeping quiet about Phil's role in the cover up of Heather's death. They still don't know the truth so can't get proper justice.

I'd like to see her apologise to Denise for egging Kevin on to drive a maniac and also keeping quiet about Phil's involvement for the cut and shuts.

But maybe that is just me.”

Nope, it's not.

Oh Shirley's definitely watchable, no doubt about it. I criticise her when she deserves it (which is often, lol!) but that doesn't mean to say that I want her gone or anything. EE would be lesser without Shirley IMO. She gives me something to nash my teeth over if nothing else

That would be brilliant

Can't stand Phil, I cut him no slack. He deserves to be alone.

Shirley was never going to squeal. Do you remember when the police came round? She never actually told them where the photo frame was, just sort of nodded in the general direction of the washing machine, couldn't bring herself to say it out loud and drop them in it. *roll eyes* Yet Heather was supposed to be her best friend.

She castigated Jay for something that she's done herself since - HE didn't say about Ben (thanks to Phil), SHE hasn't squealed about Phil covering up what Ben did for so long. Not to mention Ian.

Shirley Hypocrite is thy name.

Yup I agree, one verrrrry rare moment! On the whole of course she is a loathsome bitch who sincerely lacks empathy. Latest case in point, she doesn't care that Sharon could have been killed because of him or even acknowledge that her precious Mick's son was also put in danger by Phil, she's actually using what he did as leverage to support her 'me n filf r solem8s e dnt luv sharunxx' campaign. Sad cow.

You'll get people telling you that happened years ago, and Phil came to his senses and realised that Shirley was his one true love.
