HO Peri
Am I the only one finding her utterly detestable since the car crash? I've never much liked her but she's absolutely unbearable in her attitude to Leela. It's making me want to switch off entirely. I mean of course she would be upset/confused/angry about being lied to, but... I dunno, I just find it intolerable. She wants nothing to do with Leela and refuses to accept her as her mother, yet is totally fine with Cameron being her dad? Wtf? Leela had little more control over the situation than he did, how is it her fault? She didn't want to give Peri up or lie to her, she was being leaned on and manipulated by her overbearing mother and was just a kid herself.

Yeah I don't understand Peri after the car crash. She has been blaming everyone except Cameron. I just have never found it remotely believable that she doesn't connect Cameron's arrival to Sam and Danny's death. It was made blatantly obvious on the day of their death that they were fleeing from him, yet that doesn't seem to register with Peri at all.

Good point. Everything that's gone wrong for the family started when he turned up, and she doesn't resent him at all. Baffled.

Completely agree with this thread. She's never been a great character, but up until this stuff she was bearable.

I like peri, she can get a bit annoying at times but she is one of the most 'normal' characters on the show

She doesnt call Cameron Dad and because he has never been involved as a father, he's behaving more like a cool friend who gives her stuff. It's natural that she is angry with Leyla more than the others, so is punishing her in this way. It's classic behaviour really - however having said all of that I've always found her very annoying!

Suddenly your parents are your grandparents, your eldest sister is your mother and your other sister is your aunt. And she reacts badly, wow how dare she ?

As always, the aftermath has been terrible. I really liked her talking with Tom, and him talking about his parents. I wished they had a few more scenes together.

I don't mind Peri but this storyline not believable at all. If Cameron was just her estranged father and Leela was her instant mother I could see it. However Sam and Danny's death was very much tied to Cameron. They were fleeing from him. If he hadn't arrived they obviously wouldn't have been fleeing from him hence they wouldn't have died. I know Peri is only 14, I know teenage girls want friends more than parents but Peri is old enough to understand what happened on the day Sam and Danny died.

Yeah, well I think its much more likely that Peri would blame Leyla for her parents wanting to flee to New Zealand - she's going to blame Leyla for everything and that may not be reasonable but it is understandable. I don't see why she should connect Cameron with the hit and run driver either - apart from Ziggy, no-one else is

She doesn't trust Leela because Leela has lied to her all of her life, Cameron was no one to her before a few weeks ago so she's not angry at him.

Maybe because it so obvious that Cameron had the motive. Sorry its really obvious. Peri lived happily with Leela for years only when Cameron returned was there any problem. Everyone should get this.

I dont think it would be obvious to the characters, they think it was a hit and run driver and why would they think differently

She was forced into it though.
No doubt in future she'll realize she's being awful and have an emotional scene were she calls Leela Mum for the first time. |

From Peri's POV she doesn't want her sister to suddenly be her Mum, with Cameron she didn't even know of him until recently so it's easier for her to side with him given that her parents have just been killed. I get why she's acting like that.

Re the fatal crash, it was an accident and it was Danny's fault. The van driver should not have left the scene of the accident without reporting it to the police, but he didn't cause the crash in the first place. |

BIB - Oh, not quite everything; in fact, not even close.

The van driver should not have left the scene of the accident without reporting it to the police, but he didn't cause the crash in the first place. He would be connected even if the driver was a complete unknown to the family. Not in the criminal sense, but in the sense the accident would not have happened if he had not returned. I think that is very clear, the Lomaxes weren't trying to get away from Leela or JP or anyone other than Cameron. Their desperation to get away from him and not have him raise Peri is the cause of the accident. I don't think this would be the least bit confusing to anyone. |

I think Peri siding with Cameron is because her family tree, like Nico's secretly is, is completely messed up. At least she 'knows' who Cameron is; her biological father. She also knows that it will annoy Leela so she's trying to get back at Leela as well.
