Tuning in a TV

I've just bought a Samsung TV and having got it more or less in running order I now find that despite tuning in the channels I then can get BBC1 but trying to go to another channel it keeps saying that the signal is poor and to retune which I have done numerous times so far. I'm wondering what I am doing wrong!

Was reception OK on your previous TV?
What type of aerial are you using - outdoor/loft/set-top/communal?

Check coverage in the second link above by entering your postcode and house number and tick 'Detailed view'

Make and model may also help.

If it says poor or no signal, it would suggest there is not enough signall.
The various chs are carried on a handful of signals, and some are a bit stronger than others in some areas or effected by landscape etc. So it's very poss to have reception of some chs but not others.

Signal issues can be related to a bad cable, maybe one that connects to the wall socket, or one that connects to another device. Plugs and sockets also come into this. A single bad aerial plug or socket can wipe up many chs even if the signal is strong.

Aside from cables, plugs, sockets, do you know if the signal from the aerial is good? How was the signal on the old TV....i

Is norfolk a dodgy area for tv signals?

Your profile says you are 80, shirley. Without trying to be presumptuous, do you have any one who can check the tuning for you?

Could it be picking up channels from more than 1 transmitter? Mine does this sometimes on a full retune. It puts the weaker ones first and the proper ones in the 800s. Check if there is anything on channel 801 etc.

When this happened to me I kept retrying and eventually it got the correct ones on channel 1 etc.
