Does Infinity suffer from congestion ?

When I started with Infinity 2 I was getting 68-74 down, 19 up , then I had a line fault and it dropped a lot, to 54/12, now after several engineer visits its down to 39/9 , the engineer says they will replace the old ally cable for copper in my street to try to help, but im sure it shouldnt be this bad, at all times of the day ?

It does suffer from crosstalk as the cabinet fills up. Mine was 74/20 when i first got infinity 2 a year ago.
It has now dropped to about 68/20 but never goes below that.
It sounds like there is a definite problem somewhere in your line, i would keep pestering BT 'till they sort it out.

Aluminium cable is nowhere near as good as copper cable.

The aluminium cables suffer from signal loss and interference, this is the case with your line and is what's causing your speed drops.

Therefore the speed drops are nothing to do with any congestion and should improve your speeds once all the aluminium cables have been replaced.

Thanks, but my speed was 73/18 with the ally cable before, The Engineer said they would do it in stages but the first one would prob be done that week, as he knew they needed work, but looks like nothing has been done, yet. and that was about 1 month ago.

My thinking is that when I had my line fault the speed dropped and hasnt returned, so im thinking its at the server end of the line, I want them to unlug me and change ports, that would eliminate any problems on that end, but its trying to persuade those nice indian chaps who keep calling me about my problems , to get it done

When My speed dropped to about 56/10 BT said that the minimum speed they guarantee for my line was 53mbs so I was within that limit.
I just been on the phone to BT again, they said my line speed at the pole outside my house is 42mbs, and the minimum speed they guarantee is 41mbs so im within the limit WTF ?? when did the limit drop 10mbs ??

The guy in India said there was nothing they could do.
Now im worried that if i move ISP my speed will not rise, I came from Fibre 38/10 with Sky to BT

With aluminium, it's much more susceptible to crosstalk interference than copper, therefore the speed may drop over time and your speed won't return until either the aluminium is replaced or BT implements vectoring, which is intended to eliminate crosstalk.

It can take a long time for such a project of replacing the cables, especially if it's a long run of cables, it may require planning permission from the council as well.

Maybe not that bad but ally as others have said is not good.

No reduction here though, no congestion at any time of day after over 2 years. Still 74/75 down, 17 up and on some servers I get 19 up. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3769638636

When I first had Infinity installed I was getting about 74mbits down and 15mbits up. I then had a fault on my line which rendered it impossible to make a phone call but the internet kept working but at around 30mbits down and 10mbits up. The fault proved to be on the last bit of the external cable between the DP at the top of the pole and the block terminal just inside my front door. Once BT replaced the cable it took about a week for the speed to pick up again to 60mbits down and 12mbits up then another couple of weeks for it to go back to what I was getting before the fault. The old bit of cable was aluminium the new bit is copper.

My line fault was the cat thinking the master socket was his cat tray to pee on, so it went rusty inside the box,
