iPhone Rain Water Damage - Help!
When we had heavy rain in England a few weeks ago, I had to take my iPhone out in order to use maps and find some directions as well as make a call. I put it back in my pocket asap and all seemed fine. However, as the day went on my phone kept going onto the shut down screen asking if I wanted to turn my iPhone off (even though I wasn’t pressing anything). Then later on my lock button stopped working completely and hasn’t worked since – I’ve been getting by with assertive touch.
I can think of no explanation apart from that the rain water must have got in. My phone is still in warranty and (although the circumstances probably won’t matter) it wasn’t even like I dropped it, it was just some rain. I’ve read differing things about Apple’s policy with water damaged phones and I’m going to make a Genius appointment in the coming days. Is my issue something Apple would replace for free or am I going to have to pay? |

You damaged the phone so you'll have to pay.
I believe Apple to offer cheaper refurbished models though so you don't have to have the full cost of a new phone |

The smart thing to do would be to not mention anything related to water at all.
Just go in and say my phones not working. |
