EastEnders fake accents?
Firegazer
18-09-2014
Are any of the EastEnders cast's accents put on? I know Nina Wadia (Zainab), Lacey Turner (Stacey) and Laurie Brett (Jane Beale) put on their accents for the show but is there any others? Obviously since it's an East end show and not everyone is from the east end, there will be some people that work up their accents a little to fit their character.

Nina Wadia puts on the exaggerated Asian accent for Zainab and Laurie Brett is Scottish in real life but I'm not sure about Lacey Turner. From what I've seen she sounds exactly the same in real life.

She's much less "thick". Not posh, but more central London.

Lacey was on The One Show tonight, and sort of sounded the same, a bit more well spoken then common Stacey.

She's not in it at the moment, but Michelle Ryan (Zoe Slater) is quite well spoken in real life.

Barbara Windsor used to put on an East End accent. Even though she's from the East End, she was sent very early on by her mother to have elocution lessons and lost her native twang quite early.

Danny Dyer. He sounds like Rupert Everett in real life.
