But then again, I don't see Kat being without Alfie. I think it would be damn right depressing to watch Kat grieve over Alfie after he's topped himself, that and have half her face in stitches.

I did shed a tear when Alfie was saying how he couldn't do it. I also teared a bit at Kat trying to speak in the hospital, and I think her story will definitely hit hard with a lot of viewers over the next few months.

I don't know if either of them will ever get over it, Kat's very looks orientated so she will definitely lose self confidence and the psychological/mental scars with go even deeper, she might forgive Alfie but only just and it will take a very very long time.

Alfie on the other hand, will never forgive himself for causing these awful injuries to his beloved Kat and he will carry an almighty guilt and won't be able to cope and I think we will see him unravelling both physically and mentally, he may become addicted (drugs/drink/sex/gambling)or turn to (real) crime and if he does die at Christmas then I think it may be suicide!

Yes it is going to be a tough watch, VERY tough!

Alfie had a breakdown before when he found out Kat slept with Andy. Kat left him briefly because of it. I'd like to see something similar happen now.

never liked Alife, nor do I enjoy Kat and Alife, so yeah Kat cant possibly be with him when she learns the truth, and it seems like he is going to be left with nothing, the fire was a dumb act, that will loose him everything

As long as they don't drag the story on for too long, this is amazing stuff for kat and alfie, and also mo and stacey! Amazing acting from them tonight! And a good aftermath! I enjoyed the episode! It will be interesting to see where the storyline goes! The show has improved a heck of a lot! Compare today's episode with the 19th September 2013 and the 20th September 2012, and it proves it! There's still deadwood in the cast though, tosh and tina just don't work, and dtc needs to hurry up and get rid! Shirley and tina on the other hand are great! Reminds me of heather and shirley (sorry to go off point a bit lol).

After how brazenly quickly he got over the whole Roxy debacle, nothing would surprise me.

i'm worried that TPB still think of him as 'good Ol' happy chappie Alfie, pillar of the community, can't do no wrong'. It's been bugging me for years now. He can't answer for his mistakes and has no backbone.

Bit like 'Invincible Phil' (difference is I still enjoy Phil as a character)

I don't think they'd actually kill him off (although if any Producer were going to it would probably be DTC) but I can see him breaking down under the pressure of it all and perhaps the guilt causing him to walk out in a similar fashion to Frank 20 years ago.

I really hope this will be the ending of him. We already have Alfie mark 2 (in Mick) so he's not needed anymore.

In soap land everyone recovers far too quickly from whATever ails them but I do feel for him at the moment.

People recovering too quickly from things is a bugbear of mine but the trouble is that if the Producers try to be realistic about time frames they get criticized for making the characters boring and depressing just going on about the same thing over and over again.

It's a bit of a catch 22 really.

Fair point. It's good if they reference these things now and then though otherwise it just feels like they've picked up the story of the week.

Why should he recover? He attempted to kill his wife

No he didn't. He didn't even know Kat was in the house.

He did. If your going to set fire to a house common sense will tell you to check all the rooms see if anyone came home

He wasn't thinking straight. He made a desperate, ill thought out bad decision. That doesn't mean he knew Kat was in the house.

Lock him up and throw the key away. Attempted murder is attempted murder.

yes its a bad decesion to burn down the house, but he was fully aware of what he was doing, the fact he went to the lengths to hide Nana Moons picture is evidence of that.

Arson. Not murder.

You don't murder a house. You set it on fire.

This time next year he will be putting his cheeky chappy act on trying to sell stuff from his stall on the market. I'm calling it now.
