It would be a disgrace if there was no mention of the result this morning. They cannot not do it. I will complain to the BBC if it doesn't happen.

Well I think it is more deserving of mention that celebrities dying which is what usually prompts these threads.

I'd say there was more chance if we had a resident Scot amongst the characters but as we don't it is less likely. I'd say Holby city will be more likely to mention it as there are currently 3 Scots in it and one of them has talked about it before.

That said, they've known the date the result would be announced for months so it wouldn't be that hard to have filmed 2 different scenes and just drop the correct one in this morning.

Carol: oh. I see. You want Cornflakes or chicken nuggets for breakfast?

Ha!

It would have to be someone vaguely sensible that you could believe might have an interest in politics or at least the economic repercussions of it.

Struggling to think of who! Max, Mick, charlie or Patrick are the only ones I can think of.

In an odd way Aleks might actually make the most sense to have an interest in it and I can at least believe he watches the news.

Scotland? I'm afraid the only places outside of Walford are Manchester, Brighton, Portugal, Spain, Devon, and Round-the-world-cruise.

TBH, with it being political and all, I think EE will give it a wide berth. They might see it as OK include references to other things like Michael Jackson's death or the torrential rain we had but like I've said, but I think they'll steer clear of politics. I can't remember them ever including segments on who's won elections etc in the past? The only slightly political thing I can think of is Nelson Mandela's death but he was a well-respected statesman for his achievements so it was different.

Why would they mention it? - nothing's changed

Most people in London think Scotland's an island off the Norwegian coast anyway

Good call Sheepie. If something had actually changed then they might have done but like you say, the status quo remains the same so why would they?

EDIT: what? You mean Scotland's NOT and island of the Norwegian cost? *faints*

Well look at the flag of Orkney:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_..._of_Orkney.svg

And the flag of Norway:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_..._of_Norway.svg

And also Shetland:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_...f_Shetland.svg

Many people in Orkney and Shetland consider themselves as Scandinavian as they do Scottish, in fact a language called Norn, a direct descendant of Old Norse, was spoken in Shetland until the mid-19th century.

I read about that ages ago now though so I've forgotten some stuff. Weren't they all on the same fishing/trading routes and traded together in the past? Had Scandinavia colonised the islands at one point or am I thinking of somewhere else?
