BT YouView Box problems
1. Hasn't picked up all the Freeview channels (COM 7 mux)
2. Won't control the TV (Panasonic TX-P42S30B) 3. The RF out isn't active when the box is on standby. 4. The STB can't be remotely programmed via the app unless the ECO mode is LOW (10W in standby, instead of <1W) 5. Don't know how to access channel pack or BT Sport but Infinity hasn't been installed yet. Anyone have any advice or experience? |

1. Did it (or the TV) pick up COM7 before?
2. Have your programmed the remote to do so? 3. There is a setting to control that. 4. Well obviously. It has to be awake enough to listen. 5. Won't be until you get Inifinity installed. |

Yes the code is 3846, but it gets as far as turning the TV off then it will not turn back on. Using the TV remote to power the TV out of standby it still ignores the BT remote. I have reset three times and tried the process again, each time it fails at the same point. 3. & 4. Bit disappointed that the ECO mode is fairly useless in that respect. So, I have conceded defeat and enabled ECO Low. (Naughty BT, but at least it's not a Sky vampire STB.) 5. Fine, I almost expected that answer!

2. Try a different Panasonic code. Sounds like are not using the right one.
3. & 4. How do you expect it to provide these features otherwise? |

The engineer visit tomorrow should be fun.
I'm going to ask him about the HH5 and the YouView box. |

Well, the box has locked up whilst navigating the ITV Player. Needed a hard reset.
The tuner is of a poor quality, it shows 59% signal strength and 100% quality when plugged into the YouView box and 100% on both when plugged directly into the TV. The TV shows the same 100% when connected via RF but the box is the same. I can only conclude the tuner sensitivity is poor. |

Can't claim credit for the answer;
2. https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-...em/m-p/1201037 it's a bit fiddly, but it works. 5. The entertainment channels and BT Sport are active (24-48 hours). Just the tuner issue now. |

Luckily I have a second aerial in the house. I took it to the other aerial, retuned and found the missing channels. Signal strength was 39%, quality 100%. The other MUXes returned a similar figure of 57-59% strength. The other TV tuners normally on that aerial show 100% strength and 70% strength on MUX7.
Moving the box back the channels still work, but the strength is 31%, there is no break up or loss of signal. Interestingly, I have discovered the transmitter is running MUX7 at a much lower power than the other MUXes (typically 20-odd% of the others). I remember the aerial fitted to the upstairs is wideband post digital era (possibly 7 or 8 years old), whereas the downstairs aerial is an earlier digital days aerial that was deemed serviceable for digital even though it was just an 'ordinary' aerial (probably 12-13 years old). Apparently all aerials have less gain at the lower end of the range and this MUX is outside the old grouping that applied in analogue days. It is on Ch32- which is low frequency compared to the other frequencies (Ch41-Ch52). I think if I get any problems I'll have the aerial replaced with a newer one. I've concluded that the DTR-T2100 has a tuner that lacks sensitivity and my exisiting aerial is marginally less well suited to receiving a frequency it wasn't anticipated to receive. A perfect storm, if you will. |

Well, the box has locked up once during browsing of ITV Player, needed a hard reset.
The remote is not particularly sensitive and seemingly needs hitting with a hammer or a decent pause between keystrokes. It dropped out of playback in BBC iPlayer without warning and did not detect a 'resume'. The internet stayed connected throughout so I'm mystified as to why it stopped. It's adding up to a flaky product or a lemon. Now the SD BT Sport channels are blocked. I didn't want to pay the premium for HD. All the multi channels are streaming and recording correctly. The guide also does not carry epsiode information. I'm interested in picking up GT Academy 2014 Masterclass, but I'll be damned if there's episode information anywhere other than a generic description. I've even tried looking on the Sky channel guide and Eurosport website but none have any more than the generic info. Won't series record (which is an option for the other streaming channels) so I can't exactly level that at the box. |

You'll need the multicast software on your box for it to even display the sports channels. This will only be done when its live on your account (if you have infinity or 6.5mb and greater adsl).

More foibles;
The YouView box now seems to pull the TV to the HDMI source of the box, even when the box is in standby. In TV mode the box will trigger a source change to HDMI1. Nothing has changed on the TV. I have tried changing the HDMI leads and altering the Viera Link setting (CEC) to OFF as well as the HDMI Link Detection to OFF. Only thing that stops it is disconnecting the HDMI (not convenient) or turning the YouView box OFF at the switch (not practical). It even occurs when watching SD card content when it specifically mentions disabling all sychronisation with external devices until you exit the media playback mode. The longer the TV is on, the less often the triggering occurs. But switching back to TV can sometimes be required every couple of minutes. |
