I have a theory. Back in NOTD 11 told Clara his friends Astra ,Jenny and Strax didn't question or judge him during his "bad times". Maybe after losing Amy,Rory and River he met her and had a rebound fling. Things ended badly and she is now just a little obsessed with him. Might be fireworks in the finale.
