Do think Mick is supporting Alfie about fire because he burnt down his last Pub for insurance money?. and Shirley took the rap for him?

Just a thought I had

No it's cos he's a dick that sticks his nose into stuff that don't concern him.....you'd think he would have learnt from the Ian/Rainie thing....idiot!

Woah chill out!

I think Mick's being lovely towards Alfie. And Alfie, unlike Ian, knew that he did wrong and didn't get Mick to cover for him. Alfie's situation is nothing like Ian's.

I think it's just because he can see how much Alfie is/has been struggling and feels bad for him. Mick's a nice man and full of compassion, I don't think there needs to be anything else behind it. I mean of course there might be, but there isn't necessarily.

Watching it last night, I felt it was implied that Mick had something to do with the fire at his pub. Just the way he was telling Alfie that telling Kat would bring no good made me think he was relating it to himself and not telling Linda/letting Shirley take the blame.

this is completely different to Rainie as alfie wouldn't let mick take the blame and then go drinking in the vic like weasel did

Sorry but I dont....I didn't say the situations were alike I just said mick gets involved when it's nothing to do with him. He was whining and whinging over linda leaving a fortnight ago yet he's back in other people's business keeping secrets from her without a second thought

It does make me wonder, Mick seems a lovely man but I think there's more to him than that, at the moment I think he's just being there for Alfie with advice and stuff.

I do like the nice side of Mick, but the dark side is missing.

The problem with that was that Mick chucked Shirley out and they didn't see each other all these years because of it.

Shirley was all apologetic and wanting to make it up to him, which doesn't really fit.

If they are lying between the two of them wouldn't anything more have been made of it?

It would be a nice idea and would somewhat redeem Shirley if she'd taken the rap for 15 years for something Mick did. Sadly it can't be true as they've already exchanged dialogue that confirms Shirley burned the pub down.

I'm surprised Mick hasn't pleaded guilty to starting the fire yet.

Yes but that doesn't explain the fall out between the two of them and how they spoke of the fire when they were alone together.

It would be a retcon of a plot point less than a year old.

Agree completely. I think it's because he's never had friends before or neighbours that will actually speak to him and he's so thrilled that he finally has that he goes along with any criminal, nasty or deplorable activity they are responsible for in order to keep them on side.

This, next Lucy's killer will be confessing to him and he'll come out with the same bull 'we'll sort it auuut'.
Yeah. I can imagine him finding a reason to forgive Dean for raping his wife
