First problem is just annoying: the favourites menu does not close when I select an item from the favourites list so I have to manually close it.

Second problem is a real issue: i can no longer upload pictures to imgur or tinypic or twitter or presumably any website at all. The http request just hangs indefinately or eventually times out.

Anyone else suffering?

I've resorted to using the favourites bar. The new arrangement just annoys me. At least with auto hide the space the favourites bar takes up is less important.

I've not come across the second issue yet. Others havehttps://discussions.apple.com/thread/6543180

Hi.

How the heck do you close a page in safari on the ipad now? There used to be a small cross in the top corner of the screen that would let you close a page without the need to keep opening extra pages via the plus sign on the toolbar but this now seems to have disappeared?

Thanks

It s worth noting that there are reviews out there that say that IOS 8 is not recommended for iPad 3 (and below I assume)

Thanks. Good to know it's not just me.

Not really sure why reviews would not recommend iOS 8 for the iPad 3 as it works really nicely on mine other than the two bugs in my OP which I'm assuming are going to exist on all iOS 8 devices; not just the iPad 3?

If you have hand gestures enabled you can choose which tabs to close by pinching the screen with your finger and thumb. Otherwise press the "+" button which will have the same effect as pinching.

If you tap the two squares icon in the top right hand corner it "shrinks" the page down. You can then see the cross in the top left hand corner of the shrunken page which you can use to close it down.

I have an iPad2 and have had no problems with iOS8. Not that I've ever had any real problems with my iPad 2 anyway.
Over the years I've only ever encountered a few poorly written apps, but once they are fixed, all sorted.
Did post in the mobile section re the iOS update, as some users were talking of battery usage and lagging for some more recent devices.
Not seen any of this on my iPad 2 and I do use my iPad all day for all manner of things pretty intensively.
No issues as always getting it installed OTA, went fine at 6pm launch day, with the download busy for a good half hour, obviously expected though with the whole world downloading.

I removed the contacts list on home screen though, not so relevant on an a wifi only iPad.
Not sure I like the removal of camera roll, as that's all I use, no use of albums., I use dropbox, onedrive and gdrive for that to share with all my other devices W8, old iPhone 3GS (acting like an iPod) and my Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 phone and Android tablets.
Tried a few keyboard changes, but now back using the stock keyboard, as they didn't seem to offer anything I needed. Not into the swype thing, as I'm a fast typer anyway.
I've not noticed any Safari closing tabs changes? But i use iCab as my browser, much better and more configurable.

A nice summary and explanation of some of the new features here

I'm having problems with the pinch to quit gesture on my iPad Air since the ios8 upgrade. Sometimes it works but more often than not it doesn't. Like it'll work sometimes with Safari and then other times it'll bring up the tab view. Gotta love progress!

Same here but it works OK more often than not.
I don't think it's my imagination but it seems to happen now less and less.

Thanks cookieone, I fiddled around and got there.

Still getting it here plus today have had to reboot my iPad twice because safari wouldn't respond even after deleting it from the recent apps screen and have had the keyboard do weird things too. Safe to say that ios 8 is pretty buggy! Was nothing wrong with it on ios 7.
