I'm perfectly capable of making a burger from nothing but lean mince. I want to know what the best supermarket frozen burger is. If you answer anything but that I'm going to assume you're suffering from some form of mental debilitation, and probably sexual dysfunction and a peculiar carnal (yes!) obsession.

M&S ones are great if memory serves, but to be honest, my favourites are Birds Eye cheapos. Can't beat them in a roll with some cheese and burger sauce!!

While I appreciate the effort put into surrounding the question with conditions, to the extent that the conditions are significantly longer than the question itself, I believe that I have found a loophole:

I made my own supermarket for the purpose of selling my home-made frozen burgers to myself.

I do also have a peculiar carnal obsession but that's a subject for another thread.

Aberdeen Angus burgers have a different taste to standard burgers.


ASDA used to do some nice flavoured burgers. One was a chilli one and another had cheese in it I think.

Used to buy them for BBQs and just shove them all on and it was pot luck which you got to eat.

I rear my own cows to make my burgers then start overly aggressive threads on DS.

Best Frozen Burger, that depends on the person surly? Morrisons sell a Scotch burger, which is nice, Aldi sells a Aberdeen Angus burger, with is also nice, but it do not say where the meat is from.

Sainsburys also sell a Aberdeen Angus burger, which is nice, a bit more expensive than aldi, but at least the meat is British. They also sell a nice quarter pounder as well, with no onions. Both are Sainsburys brand.

I do not like burgers with onions anymore, I did not mind them a few years back.


I prefer to make my own, but it takes time, more time than just sticking a frozen burger on the griddle anyway.

I always bought Iceland 100% beef quarter pounders, found them the best.

Tesco's spicy bean burgers are a good fall back to have in the freezer.

You don't make burgers from lean mince, they need some fat, 80% / 20% meat to fat is not a bad ratio and I'm certainly not sexually dysfunctional and have no Carnal obsessions but do lean a tad toward being pedantic at times

Back to the question, We've used the Iceland brand, 100% (sadly no horse added these days) beefburgers and they are a pretty good burger, ideal if your having a few chums round for a BBQ and the beer and wine if being quaffed in copious amounts.

Tesco Finest 2 Aberdeen Angus Beef Burgers are nice but more pricey, that said they taste better IMHO.

Neo is right there, you do not make burgers from lean mince, in fact you find it very difficult as there is nothing to bind the meat.

I make my own, but before I started doing that I'd buy the birds eye ones, they used to be nice, especially if they were a little overcooked on the outside. I prefer fresh burgers if I haven't made my own though, they're a bit bigger so you can taste the meat

You could always use an egg. Breadcrumbs are always a good idea too.

Not to mention smoked paprika, garlic, chopped peppers and seasoning.

Costco do very good fresh burger else Aldi premium range (again fresh) are also very good.

Oddly I find the burgers from burger vans quite good (usually when drunk) and we have a local wholesaler were I can get them from along with kebab meat and pretty much anything that you can get in a fast food place.

Had some nice Mexican burgers from Sainsburys at the weekend. Got some guacamole and sour cream and brioche buns to complete the effect.

We did a little experiment with mince last night. three burgers one with 5%fat, one 15% and one 25%.
The 15% came out top for us.
