Christmas food gifts

Hi sorry to mention the C word, just wondered if anyone is making food gifts as pressies. I have got marmalade
gin soaking nicely in the pantry.Going to wrap it up with a bar of dark choc as they go really well together and also making vanilla essence for the cake makers in the family.

I plan to make chutney again this year as gifts. I made Mary Berrys Christmas chutney a few year ago and it was delicious, went down a treat. I also made truffles and presented them in a wee clear bag with Christmas ribbon - a bit fiddly as you have to make them and deliver them on Christmas eve, but still a lovely present.

I usually give food hampers at Christmas, can't really go wrong!

Sound good. I hadn't seen Mary Berry's recipe before, looks interesting with peppers and aubergine in. I have made Nigella's apple and cranberry, which is delish.

I made chilli jam last year and gave it in jars about 350g.
It was very popular.
Lorraine Pascale recipe tweaked.
I also made this.

I got little gold parcel boxes and placed about 4/5 squares per box (it's very rich)
Chilli jam for the gentlemen, fudge for the laydees.
I made enough to give to about four couples and some for us.

I am a laydeeeeee, and I'd much rather have the chilli jam!

I've just tried to find the recipe. Is it this one? Looks nice!

I tend to make Christmas puddings, little ones for single family members and larger for bigger families. Also make Victoria sponges with jam filling for my elderly relatives as they often prefer something less rich. And we become a mince pie factory in the week leading up to Christmas made 20 dozen last year and realised how the family is shrinking because height of pie making back in the 1990 I made 35 dozen.

I also make puddings, a small one for us as there is only 3 of us, and 3 big ones for friends with larger families. I've also got some Limoncello on the go and will bottle that soon and give them out at Christmas.

I hope I don't sound like a Scrooge , but I'm not keen on those food hampers. My husband's mum gives us one every year and there are always things in it that end up getting tossed out. I'd rather have the money and spend it on food we like. I know, I know, it's the thought that counts, etc., I'm just trying to be practical.

I know what you mean but this year I have slowly been creating a hamper for my Sister and her husband and the good thing is that I know exactly what sort of treats they like, so far I have bought food and drink which I cannot make myself, but once we get nearer to Christmas I shall be making the extra treats to add to it e.g. tuffles, jar of biscuits, mince pies, cake etc.
Usually I just give them a good bottle of something but they have had a tough time this year so I am spoiling them.

Some inspiring posts on this thread and I am always delighted to receive homemade presents.....it just feels extra special.
