Back in late 2011, Eastenders did a storyline in which Phil Mitchell began to get stalked by a mysterious person who had a strong grudge against him, now in my opinion, EE ruined that story by revealing Ben as the stalker. Which was a terrible idea that led to the exit of Heather Trott and the return of Sharon Rickman. They should've never made Ben the stalker for two reasons:
1. It ruined the character of Ben, and that if they wanted to Make Ben a villainous character, then they should've done something else instead.
2. When Heather was killed, it was all forgotten about, making the storyline look like a complete waste of time.
Here's what they should've done: they should've had the story go on for a lot longer than it did, and have a lot more secrets revealed about Phil. The stalker could've been a secret son of Phil, who wanted revenge against Phil for walking out from his mother before the secret son was even born, and the storyline should've teared the Mitchell family apart, if you know what I mean.
Lisa Fowler could've returned with Louise in order to confront Phil, and Lisa might have allowed Phil to spend time with Louise and become a proper father to her. Ben even might've formed a friendship with Louise, and both Lisa & Louise maybe could've become victims of the stalker, and I don't mean that he kills them. Now as for the secrets about Phil, well, they could have possibly revealed that either Phil used to deal drugs when he was growing up, or that he was sexually abused by a teacher at his school, or that he killed somebody back in the 1980s before he came to Albert Square. It could've gone either way, and it would've changed the character of Phil possibly for good. Hell, We might've seen a completely different side of Phil, rather than the bully/Hard man character that he usually plays.
The storyline might have climaxed with the stalker revealing himself to Phil and going after the entire Mitchell family, I mean, Grant could've possibly come back and get killed off by the stalker, Sam might have made a cameo appearance in the story and the stalker could've gone after her too, the stalker might have even kidnapped Ben and hold him as a hostage somewhere, demanding money from Phil, the stalker's mother could've been Manda Best, who was played by Josie Lawrence.
Roxy might've been violently Mugged in the street by the stalker, Billy & Lola would've been used as bait in order for the stalker himself to get to phil, and when I say that, I mean that the stalker would break into Lola & Billy's house, attacked Lola and killed Billy, allowing Phil to show a anxious and scared side of him.
If they did that, then it would free Eastenders from the Mitchells, and allowed the show to rebuild itself and allow a new generation to come in and dominate show, instead of relying on old characters coming back all the time.
What do you think of my idea?
