Remember that episode very well for Shannis, and for the duff duff The next day, 30th september episode was also amazing with terrific acting from Letitia & Leslie

Always found the Sharon and Dennis thing a bit icky as they had a brother/sister relationship before it started. While they have retconned elements of Phil and Sharon's history, their relationship comes across better than Shannis.

The week of Den's return is my favourite set of episodes to date. The acting and writing from all involved really sold quite a far fetched (at the time) premise. Letitia Dean and Leslie Grantham were so believable in the scenes surrounding Sharon seeing Den for the first time and Den trying to win Sharon round after abandoning her. I will never understand why Den was killed off again after all the trouble the writers went to resurrecting him. It was a slap in the face to all the great work that went into these episodes and I don't care what went on behind the scenes or how badly the character was written in 2004. Having Den in the cast is worth a bit of bad press. It really felt like the end of an era when he died again. That final episode still feels like a huge moment in the show's history when I rewatch it.

Oh it was the total opposite for me. Shannis were my favourite soap couple, cringy portmanteau and all.

I agree 100% and I hate the way he's been airbrushed out of the show. I love all the Pat mentions we get. Why can't we get the same for Den n Angie? So he had a knuckle shuffle at work, I can forgive him.

I agree there should be more references to Den and Angie they were the original King and Queen of the Square, they were the one's who got the programme up and running and gained the public's interests. Den and Angie are EastEnders legend and should be referenced more often.

I agree! It's really weird how Den and Angie are hardly ever referenced. It was understandable when Sharon wasn't around but she's been back a couple of years now and has only mentioned her parents on a few occasions. She was always talking about them back in the 90's and in her 2nd stint.

It was strange how Den's name never came up when Marcus Christie returned. Fleecing the Mitchells was actually Den's plan. It was all part of his plot to regain The Vic. Den and Angie put this series on the map. It's wrong that the PR people keep describing every couple as the new Den and Angie yet the show hardly acknowledges them even though their daughter is one of the main characters.

I think that's partly why Sharon has been so off beam since she returned. Her history is a huge part of her character and when it's not used she becomes an also ran.

they should have a plaque put up behind the bar:

Here is where Den Watts got his head staved in and his first wife Angie drank herself to death. Long live the Watts.....woops, maybe not.

Seriously though, they should do ghost walks around Albert Square. Mr Coker would be perfect for the guide.

There was a game that did exactly that on the EE website years ago!

I didn't see that. Could you imagine all the Japanese and American tourists milling around taking snaps of all the bloodstains.
