Unotelly have disappeared from Twitter and removed all reference on their site to Netflix. There are no longer any "Dynamo" options for region selection for each individual service.

Seems unblock us have redesigned their whole site to remove any mention of the channels from the main pages.

Looks like this battle may be over sooner than we thought.

Since the IOS app update how do you tell what region you are on, I use to scroll to the bottom to check but that seems to have gone

I use tunnelbear that iv been using the last year or so but I now notice that I have to sign out my Google android account first before tunnelbear works with Netflix.

Im thinking of ditching Netflix, getting too complicated when I can watch it all on showbox but have been happy to pay the £6.99 but if they are making things harder, its bye bye.

It looks like Netflix are doing a much better job of identifying the VPN's and "intelligent" DNS services than people thought they would when they announced the crack down.

Yeah, I think its all over. As of yesterday the only region that I can get to work now is USA. Everywhere else (where I can actually still log in) is giving me the dreaded 'you are using a proxy' message.

Noticed it last night. Also seems like they have taken off other thing like nbc sport extra Hulu. Wonder what is going on

Their blog has disappeared as well. Should I cancel do you think? It's a bit worrying that they're closing all their points of contact and have my card details.

Just got off live chat with Unotelly. They basically said that Dynamo has been removed to satisfy outside parties. The url for Dynamo still works and it's been renamed region picker. It's much more basic. You can't do anything on a per service basis. Just pick your region and that's it.

I'm scared to mess with that right now. I have it set to off so I'm stuck on UK Netflix but touch wood, Hulu, Xfinity and NBC Sports still appear to be working alongside my domestic services like NOW TV and All 4.

Reading various sources on the internet numerous VPN's are already being blocked and the list is growing.

I just play them using Unblock-us I haven't had to changed my settings and it has never had any problems for me so far.

I have probably just jinxed myself.

Do you have £250 on that? Seriously, you're uncomfortably smug on the politics thread, do you have to do it here too?

Yeah cactus have a message now in their client area about keeping the vpn set to USA for now for netflix, so far no issues with vpn from ibvpn (i use cactus and ibvpn as i already had a 12 month sub to cactus when i took out a ibvpn sub).
Smart dns on both though is a no no for netflix again cactus are recommending keeping smart dns on USA for netflix for now.
However as with past blocks by companies the likes of unblock-us, cactus, unotelly etc will find ways around the blocks.

A lot of people were confidently predicting that Netflix was only announcing the crackdown for show, and effectively nothing much would change. I didn't really get involved in a big technical debate about it, but I did say that Netflix wouldn't be able to get away with just making the right noises. This is big business, and the big content companies are ruthless. I felt for sure Netflix was going to have to go above and beyond what a lot of people were expecting.

Sky spends an awful lot of money securing exclusivity for the biggest shows and hollywood blockbusters. The value of those rights would plummet if the exclusivity meant nothing as a growing number of UK viewers were accessing the same content by pretending to be in the US. The same applies all over the world.

FWIW I'm sure some people will have success tricking Netflix if they are willing to invest enough time and money bypassing the protection measures. At least until Netflix is forced to only serve content based on issuing country of their payment method. But the main point was trying to discourage the mainstream from engaging in the activity, the abuse had been growing for some time and it was a concern. The comments in this thread the past month or so says the effort is already quite successful.

You mean I might have to go back to torrenting rather than paying for content? How's that working for Sky?

The Pirate Bay remains accessible via any VPN.

I'm being facetious of course, largely because I've not had any problems with US Netflix; watched The X-Files season 1 over the last few days, that really was a good show at the start.

As it been successful because I still have had no problems accessing different regions of Netflix? If I couldn't I certainly wouldn't pay rip off prices for Sky's sub standard service if I couldn't I would get it through other means.

It's a shame that they don't believe in the power of the free market. The days of wanting to spend £50 a month on TV are on the wane, and not even Sky's years-late modernisation of its TV STB is going to help.

The people who can't get what they want from Netflix will just pirate again, they won't all be having Sky reinstalled. One day, the TV and movie companies will get it, just as the music companies eventually did re: cheap MP3s and services like Spotify
