and is encouraging them to 'steal' it elsewhere.
No it isn't.

Ok, perhaps "encouraging" wasn't the right word but there's at least two posts on the last page of this forum from people saying they will now cancel Netflix "and use Kodi" instead.

So there's some evidence it's going to lead people to seek other illegal (and free) methods of getting content that they were previously prepared to pay for.

My DNS provider (SmartDNSproxy) is back up now though.

You mean prepared to pay for as long as it was cheaply as possible otherwise they'll just steal what they want instead.
If they were really that prepared to pay for certain content they would either get a Sky or Now TV subscription considering most of the content is pretty much only available via that platform.

I have a Sky subscription with movies & sports but due to living in a communal building, I am unable to have Sky+ or multiroom, Sky themselves have also confirmed that Sky Q isn't available in my building as yet. So I rely on the likes of netflix to have more variation on the TV in the bedroom, especially as the idiots at Sky don't allow HDMI on Sky Go products. I already pay just over £80 per month for Sky & refuse to pay extra for Now TV, nor do I care if using Kodi is classed as stealing, I pay for a restricted Sky, so will get my monies worth via other means.

Couldn't you buy an old second hand PS3/Xbox 360 for about £20 and watch Sky on that via SkyGo? I use an Amazon Fire TV with SkyGo sideloaded and that works fine even though it is HDMI.

Sky doesn't even offer decent picture quality and then they a cheek to charge a rip off price for it! There are also shows that have never been shown on British TV. If I hadn't watched United States of Tara on US Netflix the only option to see the show would have been through illegal sites.

You make a good point there with the ps3, at the moment the TV in the bedroom has a Smart 3D Bluray connected and a Amazon Fire Stick, unfortunately Sky Go doesn't work on the stick, but if it works on the fire TV, then it might be worth investing in that, Sky Go & Kodi on the same device would be awesome to have.

It works for me with the Fire TV, most of the stuff on the SkyGo app won't work with the Fire TV remote but you just need a mouse or other controller plugged in, I have a USB "air controller" that I got with my KD Links Android media player and that works perfectly with the Fire TV + SkyGo.

I really don't think Netflix know what they are doing regarding these blocks? I was at a friends house yesterday and I tried to use Netflix and got the proxy error message. We were not using a proxy or Unblocker, in the UK and my account is UK based. Every other streaming service works OK so used Amazon instead. Now Netflix said no genuine users would be blocked but I was. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don't use Netflix, but I have seen this sort of error with other services. There are so few ipv4 addresses left that companies are buying unused blocks, some of which are still listed as being assigned to other countries. The company I work for has a UK Internet gateway but some of the geo location services have its IP addresses listed as being in Greece, and occasionally when I visit a website that tries to be too clever I get the page I want displayed in Greek! No doubt it will correct itself in time.
There should be a way to let Netflix know of the error, perhaps on their website.

Are there any options still working to change your Netflix region or is this a lost cause now?

I can still get the U.S region now and again with my VPN, can't get any other regions to work though.

ViperDNS is working for most regions, except Canada.
Pity I'm getting rid of Netflix now.
They've obviously grown too large to worry about Customers any longer.

That's a bit unfair on Netflix. Although I'd like access to all regions, content providers at the moment don't allow it. It's them you should be angry at.

Provide the same quality of film and television that the Americans get and maybe we in the UK won't have to go to the lengths we do!

Not that simple when most of those same quality films and shows are shown exclusively on Sky.

Not this again, please stop with this nonsense, if you check any other nation they all complain about their home selection. Americans prefer Canada, Canada prefer America etc etc. Blame the studios for putting the restrictions on Netflix, not Netflix.

Sky are also partially to blame for tying up so many film and Tv studios, but that will change come new contract time, it has already for some studios.

Is it just me or is ViperDNS not working for anyone at the moment?

No region is allowing me to watch anything.

Got an email today, they have given in to Netflix and are shutting down. Oh well it was fun while it lasted, more shutdowns will follow I'm sure.

So there's absolutely no way of using the American Netflix in the UK?

I only recently got Netflix and while the UK one is decent, I managed to look at the US one briefly (before getting the error code message) and couldn't believe how good it looked! Fast and Furious movies, Shameless, Friends, Walking Dead, so many other great TV shows and movies that I wanted to see and yet I'm stuck with the UK one.

Getflix are still fighting the good fight as are Overplay to some degree.
