Could real life events force a script rewrite for the Lucy storyline?

I have suspected from day one that Latvian Aleks is Lucy Beale's killer.

Now it's emerged that a Latvian could be implicated in the disappearance of Alice Gross, if Eastenders have planned for Aleks to be Lucy's killer, won't they worry there will be too many similarities?

If Aleks was planned from the beginning then it really shouldn't matter and people who are bothered about it should grow up.

Without sounding disrespectful, I think by next years reveal on this storyline the actual events involving Alice Goss will be a closed case and although it may likened, it wont have come across as inspired.
I do believe that Hollyoaks decided to change some aspects of the Silas Serial Killer storyline....correct me if I'm wrong? I expect the other soaps have done this from time to time

I don't know if there was any SL change regarding Silas, but HO did drop a SL involving a character having murdered a child (as a child themselves) due to Denise Fergus' concerns over the plot's similarities to James Bulger's murder - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s1...oQq3EnH88nrmoR
