Corrie ratings article

Ok, so let me get this straight, coronation street loses millions of viewers year on year, and has been criticised by many critics and ex cast members, for moving away from what it originally was, and becoming too gritty, and sensational. So what does Stuart Blackburn supposedly come up with 'sensational storylines and brining back ex popular cast members (who I bet aren't even that popular)' very silly...

Also why are they 'baffled'?

Did this really happen?!

That's baffling in itself...that ITV bosses are baffled. They must have their heads in the clouds or worse ..up their own. They only have to read DS to find out why this is happening and we've been telling them for months now that it was descending into the pits of oblivion with the hat in the lead.

yes it did. crossroads was at it most popular around 1975 when hugh and meg got married and you have to remember it wasn't networked, some had it on at teatime, some like in my region atv/central at 6:35. it also won many awards, noel gordon was extremely popular and finally crosstroads in those days was never a daytime soap.

it was only when crossroads improved the scripts, the sets and the acting viewers started to turn off.

there was alot of love for her. many fans were outraged when they axed meg from crossroads in 1981. i am showing my age but i can remember the fire at the motel, although meg did survive the fire, she wasn't in the motel at the time, i still remember gill's reaction, it was something like this: 'oh my god, the motel, its on fire, mum.' scream horrified face. brilliant.

Crossroads was huge in its day even when its ratings started to fall, for much of the time it was still outrating Emmerdale. It was a victim of politics, if ITV were going to axe any soap on ratings, at that time, it would've been Emmerdale.
