The second one is a reggae sounding song so definitely not Depeche Mode. It sounded like UB40.

This is Mighty Quinn by Manfred Mann. I did wonder whether it could be a cover, but right at the end of the clip you hear the opening chords of Sunny Afternoon by The Kinks, so I guess someone had a copy of The Greatest Sixties Album in the World...Ever! in their collection.
