Derek used to always blackmail Tanya and she didn't think to tell anyone about it? Surely if someone is blackmailing you threatening to put your daughter in prison, you'd tell your husband/wife about it, given that it's their brother.

I wasn't fond of that whole plot and I held back watching EastEnders until Christmas Day. Didn't like Derek, an unrealistic and truly vile character. I hate how the EP portrayed him as some king of the square who has everyone on a leash.

Are you in a timewarp?

Derek was badly written in sub standard era of the show. It's a shame because JamIe Foreman could have been great with the right material.

He was a great character but percieved in the wrong way thanks to the media. He was a bully and that was it. When the media started hyping up along with Phil Mitchell they made out he was meant to be a king pin.

He wanted the respect of his family after missing out for so many years along with only caring about himself. Wrong era for him to be in it. Least he never killed anyone!

Haha! Just rewatching 2012-13! There's a lot that I missed as I was very on-off with EastEnders during that era

He was utterly ruined so the Philth could remain as Top Dog - I predicted it even before he arrived.

The man scared Pat of all people but was then reduced to 'comedy' brawls in the Vic.

TPTB make me sick when it comes to their living God.

Derek was an embarrisment, he was clearly a disturbed man living in the 1950s, he was about 4 foot and fat as a pig with no boys to back him up yet...yet the media classed him as acrime boss lol

I've removed Derek from my mind and it looks like EE have done that too along with removing everything that happened in that era of EE.

Well, you can't blame EastEnders for that, it was a shocking era in EE history. Derek could of been a legendary character had he been written right but he was shocking if truth be told.

Derek was a tool/fool, his story didn't fit in with the show at that time
