The presenter doesn't do much, announces the act, reads out a question after they sing, tells the judges we need to rush you.

It's not like the ITV2 show where they have to think on their feet, constantly come up with interesting questions. We've seen people mess it up before.

oh jeez, anybody but Mulhern. Please!

I don't think Dermot does a bad job. He's not remarkable, doesn't do a great job but the show needs someone pretty beige who won't take attention from the acts/judges and he fits the bill pretty well. If he were to replaced it would be by somebody just as unremarkable like Ben Sheppard or something. If the show were to go the whole hog and directly target the younger audience, Nick Grimshaw would be the obvious choice but Dermot is a granny pleaser, they will be able to get away with quite a lot in terms of targetting a younger audience as long as he stays there to please the older ones (and at the same time not upsetting the younger audience).

I always thought Matt Johnson would be the perfect replacement for Dermot.

He did well presenting Bit On The Side while Rylan was away. Mat'st charismatic, able to think on his feet without relying on autocue, got a good sense of humour plus he's quite good looking

He would be good actually, plus he is already popular with the ITV audience (This Morning). The only minus I can see is that he has a regional accent, but I actually find the welsh voice endearing - there are many that dislike it and I'm not sure ITV would branch out to that on its flagship show.
