The "twincest" storyline for example - it's weird how they managed to meet a couple times and conceive a baby, then meet again and not even have an instinct of each other's existence. Even Patrick showed no recollection for his entire time on the show until a few weeks ago when he blurts it out.

It seems Hollyoaks always wants to take things that one set further. EastEnders does incest, Hollyoaks does twincest, Coronation does tram crash, Hollyoaks does train crash.

Obviously it's not like Hollyoaks are spoiled for choice on storylines and soaps often do the odd few stunts that have already been done, but come on. You don't need to take it that far.

Patrick spent his whole time since he's been in it keeping Sienna from finding out about her daughter, it's been pretty much all he's done apart from abuse Maxine. He doesn't need to worry about Dodger because Sienna knew him as a brother so there was nothing to be concerned about, he didn't need to worry about separating them but about them knowing Nico was alive.

But since Sienna found out Nico was alive and found her, it's all come crashing down which is believable as Sienna had no reason to think about her babies father until now.

I actually remember when Sienna first arrived, there was a scene were Texas thought she was Dodger's new girlfriend and I remember it standing out to me as there was something more to it that was being hinted at.

Agree, I remember 10 or more years ago it was always doing cheesy storylines now I think it's awesome, I don't want it to be like real life as it would ruin it.

It doesn't have to be real life, but the twincest angle is pushing it. I refuse to believe that Dodger is Nico's father. In my mind, it was some unnamed guy Sienna had a one-night-stand with.

You not actually trying to pretend this shambles was the plan from day one, are you? Lol.

Yep. And as soon as someone compares it to EE, i stop reading. I will never understand the fixation EE loons have with HO around here.

Exactly. If it was, Patrick would have been 'off' with Dodger or worried about Sienna and Dodger being together. Simply as a parent, if your only children had slept with each other, I doubt you'd be able to look them in the face. Even if he did genuinely want to know his son, there's no way he'd let Sienna near Dodger in case those mad sexual passions (surprisingly absent for the past two years) reared their ugly heads again.

I don't think it's competing with the other soaps but that now Brookside has gone it can make itself the shock soap.

I always thought that Patrick was the intended father - there's a lot of hints from the beginning of the story that went that way. But as this seemed to be building steam, there were the soap-star sex abuse scandals and we got a scene between Sienna and Patrick clearly stating that the father was a young chap around Sienna's age - and she seemed to know him. She said she and he would have been able to raise the child themselves. Then, when the sex scandals wound down and they were found not guilty, it's like BK said "Hmm, I really want to go with the incest angle but I've completely ruled out Patrick. I know, let's switch to Dodger lol!" and completely messed it up.

But then they do a u-turn from that and have her sleep with a random who turns out to be somebody she knew after all as they grew up together but were split at 7 years old.

I thought that the boy would turn out to be a fantasy excuse used to forget where the child really came from. And I definitely think the house was going to be the moment of reveal.

Yet again, this rewriting of history that Hollyoaks has never believable rears its head. Yes, it has. It may have had its comic moments and then moments of soapy high drama (like ALL soap) but until last year, there was some semblance of characterisation, development and reality.

And the notion that this Dodger and Sienna plot was planned from day one is laughable! There wasn't even a baby plot right at the start until six months in and Dodger and Sienna suddenly aged 5 years out of the blue to make it possible for her to have been pregnant and have a grown child.

The problem Hollyoaks have is that it has a young audience who want spoilers and indeed grew up with them. There is little left to shock or surprise so they have to come up with something unpredictable. Unfortunately this means them creating ridiculous contrivances.

they didn't grow up together as Anna took Dodger when he was a year old, she returned alone when the twins would have been 7.

Exactly when Hollyoaks first started it covered realistic storylines that teenagers could relate to, Natasha Anderson having her drink spiked, Cindy's under age pregnancy and the fact that Holly's father was then killed in a crash, Lisa Hunter's self-harming, Hannah's anorexia was a great storyline, Luke's rape was done so much better than John Paul's. The teenagers were believable and the families were believable (I mean heaven forbid we have a normal family with two married parents with their own children in real life not every family is made up of waifs and strays) . Even a few years ago it was covering believable stories.

It is absolutely ridiculous now, case in point the recent episode where Mercedes and Phoebe break Theresa out of prison and the absurdity of Sienna living in the same village as her victims let alone not having constant pysch meetings. I know they don't want the actress who plays Sienna to leave but at least make it so that it appears she is still getting help.

I don't see why Sienna can't be put in a hospital and go on a break. Personally I would like for her to be cured because I preferred her when she was relatively sane.
