It's always bemused me, that a programme like Hollyoaks is directed at kids really, from the age (roughly) 8 upwards, yet for most part, the content is way too adult. Isn't there some sickness involved here?

It is aimed at teenagers, Admittedly the story lines appear to be aimed at those who's intelligence is that of an 8 year old however

Where on earth did you get 8 from? This is either a joke or troll thread! It's not aimed at kids from the age of 8 you know that!

Do you really think the stuff shown in the show will be directed towards 8 year olds? Of course you don't!! This is a trol thread like the OP is a troll.

How many times did you need to use the word troll?!! Get over yourself!! I'm genuinely asking a question. If you can't respond with any kind of rationalised debate then go away and find another thread. Overkill with your emotions or what??!!

No, Bryan Kirkwood is sick. They can only write the storylines that he gives the green light to.

There's nothing specific, it's just that I know a few people who's kids (of age 8 and upwards) who watch it, without parental consent (or any parental input tbh) and it just made me wonder. It's on at 6.30 pm, there's no watershed. And a lot of the storylines involve very young kids.

I giggled too much at this

But OP, really, where did you get the idea it was targeted at 8 year olds?

But seriously, how many storylines involve not just teenagers, but children.

That's bad parenting then.

The SL's either involve teenagers or babies not young children. The only young children they have are Leah, Lucas (who aren't on it at the mo) and Charlie and Oscar and neither of them are in a SL at the moment.

Are you on about Tom/Peri/Nico? They're hardly the main characters?

No, I'm on about Tom who has been Tom for the past 5 years or so, way before Peri and Nico came on the scene. Why are you so confused??? How long have you actually been watching it?

What are you on about?

I'm confused because you say the shows storylines revolve around young childrn
Well given the actual young children [Lucas/Leah etc] are never on screen I can only assume you're on aout Tom, Peri and Nico - But they're not exactly the main characters?

I don't know if you realise but Tom is a teenager (his voice has even broken now)

The SL's he has been in have been about family, not just Tom.

ETA I have been watching before Tom come along and I'm still confused at what your getting at.

How long has he been a teenager? How long has he actually been a teenager in the soap (not in real life)? How long has he been involved in storylines that involved stuff that children really shouldn't be involved in?? For the past 5 or 7 years?

There's nothing funnier than posters who have a little hissy fit over discussion of soap

I know what you mean, but I'm not having a hissy fit, just finding it difficult to explain what I mean. And I'm tired! I will admit that!

Eh??? A teen is age 13 - 20 so how can he have been a teen for 4/5 years?? Are you being deliberately obtuse? No matter how old he is in real life, his character was that of a small child (approx. 7/8 years old) and has grown up over the past 6 or 7 years.
