It really annoys me seeing everyone taking alfies side on this, especially Mick as he knows the truth. Alfie needs to pay for putting his family and other peoples lives in danger. totally and utterly irresponsible and illegal. The whole 'but he was desperate' thing is no excuse whatsoever.

Couldn't agree more; I don't even like Tosh, but she is in the right this time.

I didn't realise it was Tosh that went to the police. So glad she did. Also think she was right with what she said to Mick about Johnny having gone into the house. That alone makes me wonder why he is stand by Alife. Mick covering for Ian was one thing but Alfie it's something else.

Oh I don't like her but she was right. I do think she comes off smug though...as if she's actually enjoying it.

Although what Alfie did was wrong, he did it because he was desperate. He did it because he wanted money to feed his family and keep a roof over their head. He didn't do it for malicious reasons unlike Yusef Khan and Karl Munro. He, like John Stape is essentially a good person at heart, even if he is prone to recklessness and stupidity. He never meant to harm anyone. He really believed that the house was empty, and as Mick rightly said, everyone has a breaking point.

Yes, he should have listened to Mick and kept calm and found a way to sort the financial mess out without resorting to arson and yes he should have told Kat the truth but sadly Alfie is a very proud man - he only accepts help if he really needs to. Luckily for Alfie, nobody died and in this case, I don't know what Tosh was complaining about - Alfie was the one who risked his life and got Kat out. When the firefighters arrived the house was empty so they would have used hosepipes to put out the fire before going in. Even firefighters surely only enter burning buildings if someone is inside.

And what about the Slater housefire that killed Tom and Trevor? Yes, Trevor kidnapped Mo with the intention of killing himself and her, but Little Mo was the one who actually struck the match, and Tom and Trevor died as a result. I don't remember her getting into trouble for that. In this case, as nobody died I find it hard that Alfie needs a comeuppance but of course you can't send out the message that arson is okay, however desperate the circumstances are.

I don't like Tosh and think she's an interfering cow but Alfie is in the wrong here. He has to get some form of comeuppance surely?

Exactly. I know she doesn't know Alfie as well as the others but anyone who knows Alfie would know he is not malicious and if he did do this (which he did) he didn't intend to harm anyone and he didn't do it for malicious reasons.

Alfie should have signed on instead of putting other people's lives in danger. Tosh was definitely in the right.

I haven't seen it recently, but from all the spoilers I've read, it's clear Alfie is In the wrong! He might be proud but arson is so etching different! Surely asking for help is better then arson? Yeah nobody died, but lives were effected. Say your kid or husband went to help in the fire and you found out it was arson caused by a mate of yours...... I'd be pretty hacked off!

Well Mick knew what Alfie was going to do/did before Johnny ran in. And, to be fair to Alfie, he a) thought the house was completely empty and b) didn't know about Mo's hairspray which is what caused the explosion and actually destroyed the house. I agree that seeking help is better than arson but I also know that Alfie isn't a bad person. It's a shame a character's nice qualities are conveniently forgotten if they happen to commit a crime.

He was an idiot to do what he did I agree and maybe at that point he didn't really think about what would happen but he believed the house was empty, didn't know about Mo's hairspray and was about to ring for the emergency services himself to stop the fire spreading. Also I don't see firefighters risking their lives unless there were people inside and in this case, by the time the fire service arrived, Johnny and Peter had vacated the premises and Alfie had got Kat out.

I don't like Tosh, I think it's inevitable a domestic storyline between her and Tina will take place, but I'm glad somebody's onto Alfie. Not just anybody either being nosy, it's part of her job so she'd know.

As much as I like Stacey, I was waiting to see how long it was before she ranted at somebody "R U STUPID OR SUMFINK, ALFEY DIDN'T DO IHHH" her angry voice could kill off my ears

It doesnt matter what he thought , he commited a criminal act . He chose to set fire to a home instead of finding a job or signing on .

No-one died but I'm pretty certain Kat would rather not be facing a life with scarring and in agony with burns. It is hardly an innocent situation where no-one got hurt. And Alfie is an ex-con and he committed a crime. I hate that he is made to be the victim all the time. Like when Phil sold the vic. He had cheated and jilted Phil's cousin at the altar and then moved said woman into the home. Did he really think Phil was going to turn around and say well okay then? And Kat was claiming benefits when she shouldn't. A lot of people work hard and to see people abuse the benefit system is very annoying for hardworking people, especially if you are a high tax payer. With Stacy having a job and contributing, with Kat having a job; he could have worked through it like everyone else does in the world!

He did look for work - I remember him begging Aleks to give him another chance. As for signing on, I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure he got turned down for a loan or something. I know he chose to do what he did but I'm sure that was fuelled partly by desperation and that he acted recklessly - even Mick said he wasn't thinking straight.
