I agree

In my mind, it ended at series 3.
In my mind it ran only for series 3. Five good episodes out of 41 produced. The rest are tacky, gimmicky and dull — though there's not a single creative talent involved that I haven't found to be good elsewhere.

Barrowman was best with Eccleston.

Personally I think it makes sense - Jack is immortal but can and has aged, once you get into 4 and 5 didgets it's going to effect the body changing its form. Also explains how he knew about Yana.
Per Cumaean Sybil, he should have been the size of a spec of dust, trapped within a basket.

I don't want to let it go!! Torchwood is a show that could easily return because there is no set format. I would love it if RTD got the band back together again!

They should go to Amazon or Netflix for a co-production! How exciting would that be? RTD and Julie Gardner should be given plenty of credit for going for it in the US with Miracle Day, even if it didn't turn out as good as it could have (personally I think there are 3 or 4 brilliant episodes in there).

A 6 hour story would be very welcome indeed!
I want it too but it's clearly not going to happen anytime soon and as hard as it is for me to let it go, I need to start accepting the fact that it's unlikely not to come back anytime soon.

Series 1-3 of Torchwood will always be fun to watch as far as I'm concerned
Same here

Miracle Day gets so much hate, I thought it was good. Not as good as Children of Earth but it had the potential to be.

The build up for story was really interesting and for the most part, pretty good but they insisted in dragging it out. The concept of Miracle Day was amazing, the execution not so much. I also hate that they made Rex immortal.

People seem to forget the really good characters they made as well. Kitzinger and Oswald Danes were really cool.

At its best, Torchwood was way better than Doctor Who IMO.

I'd love for Torchwood to start back up again but I can't see it happening.

Torchwood did not suit 10 episodes of a long same story arc. It was much better in the format it was for series 1 and 2 where it had many standalone episodes and a big action packed finale to finish the season off. Americanising didn't help either. None of the new characters were interesting at all.

I would of much rather of had a series 4 focussing on Gwen tracking down Jack, finding a new team and a new torchwood headquarters followed by plenty of good adult science fiction adventures. But with the Miracle day story interspread among the whole series with a climax at the end.

It's a shame that Lois Habbiba didn't join the Torchwood crew. I thought she was great and was definitely expecting her in the next series until they decided to Americanize it.

I always think they missed a trick not having an episode where Jack and River meet, they both have such big personalities it'd be great and probably very amusing to see! Pretty sure I saw something where they were both in another show together and started discussing their Who characters.
I agree #bringjackback

They are both in Arrow so that's very likely.

No! *hugs Gwen until she starts to turn blue...* Don't wanna...

BTW, has anyone else on here read the Torchwood/ Doctor Who Girl in the Moon comic strips on Deviant Art? The woman (Ally?) who does them is very good and very funny.
If you've never seen them I can wholeheartedly recommend reading them.

Love Lars, the Dalek mutant in a jar.

I'm with a lot of others that think TW peaked with Children Of Earth .

Amazing TV. Although I still haven't forgiven Jack for his actions at the end haha.

Miracle day I thought was okay but it seemed as if they were trying too hard to be American and it went on far too long.

Would love to see TW back. But not with the format it left is in.

I still think rebooting it and rebranding it would be the best course of action.

Torchwood 1889 - a period-drama sci-fi series geared towards adults. A little like Ripper Street but with aliens and moral/social dilemmas. I'd imagine a ten-part series would do it, with standalone stories and maybe a two-part finale.

I'd have a predominantly original cast, though there's always room for a story to involve Jack and Gwen arriving from the future to tie up their stories somehow.

I think it'd refresh the show, take it in a new direction, offer something new and isn't tied to the continuity of a show that ended on a down-note several years ago. I'd likely set it in Scotland, exploring a Torchwood we've not seen before...imagine being able to use a city like Edinburgh for filming too! It'd meet the BBC's desire to do more Scottish programming, and you could use real-life historical elements, like the "Undercity".

Actually, I think that was one of the promises that The Prime Minister made to Scotland for not seceding; "Stick with us and any new Doctor Who spinoffs will be filmed on location in Scotland!". I think I read that somewhere.

This sounds pretty good! You could have Strax, Vastra & Jenny turn up to help too. Strax has already been to Scotland to fight with Glaswegians.

Some people still believe that this show needs closure so why not?

However in my view, I think the Torchwood era is pretty much over. Very unfortunate that it had to end on an awful season.

Probably best really. Let's be honest, it only had one good series (mini-series?)
I loved it up until Owen and Tosh died. It wasn't really Torchwood after that.

They could create a spin-off series which involves Victorian Torchwood from time to time but is focused on Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax.

They should have stuck with the format for series three and maybe do three weeks a year ( of 5 episodes )

I still think a Netflix/Amazon co-production is the way to go. Torchwood has been something different every series so this would be another fresh development for the show.

Miracle Day can be recut into 5 or 6 hours of decent TV. Keep the first episode as it is then pare the rest of it down to the essentials. The second half of the series had some amazing moments. The one exploring Jack's past is as good an episode as anything.

To be honest, Children Of Earth felt more like the end for me after Ianto died. I thought that was the peak of Torchwood. Brilliant yet the inevitable end. Best series for me.

Torchwood would only work if they changed it completely, new actors and a more professional set up that did not involve stupid bickering, point scoring and sex, especially the homosexual sex which was so obviously an agenda to ram it down our throats, well we know which two did ram it down each other throats.
