That would be heart-breaking as it may have been an accident and Ben's involved!

Far too obvious. We have still got five months to go before the "reveal", so there are bound to be lots of twists and it will end up being somebody completely unexpected. The fact that they have revealed, at this stage, the fact that it was Jay who buried Lucy's phone and purse, must mean that Jay and Ben found the items innocently and were not involved in her death.

I'd feel cheated. It won't be him though. Although I think Ben and Jay did mug her, I think afterwards she went to find help, but she got killed instead.

I would be really disappointed if it was Ben, I'd like to see a more rounded Mitchell. We have psycho Phil and psycho Ronnie in that family, with Sharon possibly adding to that. We don't need another mental Mitchell.

I would also be pretty fed up if it was Jay. He cracked under the strain of knowing Ben killed Hev, so his recent behaviour wouldn't make sense.

Ben went mental years ago. That ship has sailed, he's a fully fledged member of the mental Mitchell clan.

Why would you bury something (evidence, in this case) if you were completely innocent?

the character has just come out of prison and I dont see why he would kill again just to end up back in prison, doesnt make any sense to me

I do find it strange that Jay and Ben buried Lucys phone and wallet tho - Im pretty sure its a red herring but who knows

Its very hard to see where EE are going with this purse and phone buried storyline, without Jay being found out at some point and with him already as a suspect from the CCTV footage if, or should I say when, Lucy's belongings are found then his fingerprints are going to be all over them.

Whether Jay and Ben were involved in some kind of mugging or whatever, Jay is the only one at risk and I can't see Phil allowing Jay to name Ben if he gets arrested by the police.

Using my imagination and moving forward a few months, I think what is happening this week causes a chain reaction of events that will lead to the eventual killer being found and my money is now firmly on Abi.
Firstly she has played hardly any part whatsoever in the lead up to all this but now suddenly with the Uni story and Jay planning on going with her and subsequently dumping her I think we'll see a different Abi, a change in her character leading up to the reveal.

If Jay does get with Lola I can see Abi finding out through Ben that he and Jay saw Lucy the night she was murdered. Ben will probably blurt out that they found Lucy's purse and phone and when they found out that she was murdered that night they panicked and decided to bury it.

Abi upset over the split with Jay then decides that she wants to get back at him for dumping her will then find the evidence and pin the murder on Jay, hence the sudden decicison to seperate them, all in the knowledge that she killed Lucy and can now get away with it as well as get back at Jay.

That is my theory anyway and the most logical outcome, otherwise why go to the lengths of the CCTV footage and burying of Lucy's things if at some point this has no bearing on the ending?

He could be trying to cover for someone. His brother Ian maybe?

Did Ben beat up Gelinda a couple years ago? he beat someone up and there was a bit of a whodunnit but the details are sketchy.

A bit cheated. I'm personally not looking for a killer. I would much rather it turned out Lucy caused her own death in some tragic way and other people found her and moved her body, hid evidence etc in panic

Another thing, I'm not sure if it's already been raised, but if Ben and Jay had her purse, how did she then get Jake home in a taxi? Or have I got the timeline wrong?

Really bloody annoyed; we had enough of Ben being behind everything when Kirkwood was in charge. I would also consider it a massive cop out, seeing as Ben wasn't actually in the show when the murder took place.
