I have an Amazon account and they keep sending me e-mails about their instant video. But I don't see how I connect with it as my TV set is not one of those listed although I have Sky catch up etc. Any ideas appreciated.

Coming next month to the UK is the new Amazon Fire TV, which will be a cool little set-top-box that costs around £80. This will have Amazon Prime as well as Netflix apps (and a few more at launch).

It is a nice box. My one should arrive today, although it is the German model. Still, I'll have a look over it and write up a report at Eye on-Demand.

Will certainly be interested in your review on that.

The full review will take a couple of weeks, but I should have it finished before the box is launched in the UK.

That said, I've worked out how to switch the box between countries (so far tested DE, US and UK), and yes, I can log into the UK hub already despite the box not officially being available in old blighty yet.

It's not all finished in there, so some UK apps that were promised don't yet work or are missing, but I'll try and put together a quick rundown at the eye on Friday.

Really appreciate that, thanks gother.

I have up already, a basic first-hands look here.

An extended review on the Zattoo app for Amazon Fire TV (This is a hugely popular app for UK expats as it allows live UK TV to be streamed over the Internet in near HD quality).

And finally, a guide on how to switch hubs between the UK, US and DE ones, and yes, you can buy a box in the UK, switch it to US and watch Hulu on it... The guide is here.

One suggestion if i may mate i think it'd be great to see reviews of other smart dns/vpn providers other than Overplay as just using Overplay gives the impression that the site is owned by them lol, it's just a idea mate.

Good point and a very valid suggestion, although I don't actually review OverPlay at that site. I just use them and of course their advertising and referrals - though that website also has other advertisers and other referrals as well. (and no, the site is not owned in any way by them or anyone else outside of me).

The problem is that there are dozens of smart DNS services, and unlike VPNs which work with everything from one specific country, a DNS service works not only with specific services, but also specific platforms as well.

I just wouldn't have the time to test every single service on every platform through every DNS service, so I just do the one.

(Although, I have been considering adding a second one, but even then I would be so stretched for time).

Anyway, as a disclaimer, I'll say there are plenty of other Smart DNS companies out there. They may work with the services mentioned on the Amazon Fire TV, but they may not. I've only tested the one.

Good point mate another idea would be say when you mention overplay you could alter it a bit and say something like "services such as overplay, unblockus amongst others"?
