If I was EP of Eastenders

Here's what I would do if I was Executive Producer of EE:

Keep Kat & Alfie in the Vic: I know a lot of you on DS don't like Alfie at all but he is a decent character and was a brilliant Landlord in the Vic. I'm Sorry, but I cannot stand the Carters. If it was up to me, I would've brought Stan in to the show and thats it. There wouldn't be no Johnny, Linda, Nancy or that stupid schmuck Mick Carter.

Phil's Stalker Storyline: a while back, I posted a thread on here criticising the Stalker storyline that EE did back in late 2011/ Early 2012 with Phil Mitchell. And if had it my way, then the story would've gone a lot longer and more secrets would be revealed about Phil, whilst the stalker would've been a secret Son of Phil's and his mother would be Linda Carter( who would've had a different name and surname, obviously).

Keep Ryan Malloy: In my opinion, getting rid of Ryan Malloy was a huge, huge mistake. I know he's recently come back, but I would have kept him on the show and offered the actor who plays him, Neil McDermott, a bigger raise to stay on. Had the Character stayed, there would be lots of directions to take him in, such as a possible relationship with Kim Fox, a cancer storyline, etc, etc.

Grant Mitchell: Also, I would bring Grant Mitchell. But I might've involved him in the Phil Stalker Storyline, but also give him a short storyline which basically has him return to the UK on the run from Interpol, the story would be that whilst he was Living in Portugal, he got himself involved with a Mexican Gangster who gave him a job of an Assassin. But the Mexican Gangster double-crossed him somehow, so Grant got his revenge by killing him, and burying his body in the Portuguese countryside. It would also be revealed that he's living in a dingy Flat somewhere in Swindon. I would've killed him off on Christmas Day as well, mainly because it would be the only way to persuade Ross Kemp to come back to the show in order to wrap up his character for good.

Jay Brown: I also would've given Jay Brown a huge, huge storyline too. Because he's such a good character that his potential is being wasted right now.

Nick Cotton/ Jacob Cotton: The recent Nick Cotton/ Dot story would also happen, but instead Charlie Cotton would've been renamed Jacob Cotton and he would be played by Matthew Horne. Jacob would be a much darker and unpredictable character, just like his Dad, and it would be a much bigger than the current storyline is right now. Nick would've come back to Kill his Ma and get revenge on Hacob and Yvonne Cotton, played by Pauline Qurike.

Cull the Brannings: In my Opinion, the Branning Family are one of the biggest mistakes that EE has ever made, and I would've got rid of them one by one: starting with Max, who would be killed off in a car accident. Jack would leave after a crook from his Police Past would come back to haunt him, Derek would die of heart disease, Lauren would leave with Abi to look after Abi at University, there would be no Joey or Alice, the only branning that would remain would be Tanya, who would still be married to Greg Jessop.

There will be more to come, don't worry.

Well, thank god that you'll NEVER become EP, you sound even worse than Bryan Kirkwood and Stuart Blackburn put together

What are you all talking about? What's wrong with my ideas?

Kat and Alfie were awful in the Vic.

Agree and disagree with your post...

The carters are horrendous now! Let's face it, they were brought in for shirley, and now we respect Shirley more now, and treasure her, the rest of the Carter's just aren't needed...

However, the brannings are good! Dot, Jim, Bradley, Tanya, Max, Jack, Lauren and Abi are fantastic, they only became dull when Derek and his mob, and Kirsty arrived, and everything went Branning central! But the Brannings up until 2011 were great, and the viewers LOVE them! Why else would 14 million of tuned in that Christmas if this wasn't the case, the Carter's haven't got EastEnders figures back up one bit, they're nothing but a massive fail, they're cheesy, boring, way too big, and have so many wooden cast members! We've lost a lot of fantastic characters over the years, and the Carters do not make up for this in anyway what so ever! Other than Shirley, they just bore me now... The Mitchell's were MUCH better in the vic! I wouldn't mind Kat and Alfie back in the vic, now dtc has improved both characters! Kat and Alfie were vile 2010-2012 and Bryan Kirkwood ruined the vic... Kat, Alfie, Stacey, Mo, Charlie, Lily, the twins and Tommy would work in the vic under dtc IMO. Then again, I love them all at number 23. I wasn't watching EastEnders back when they were introduced in 2000. However, the Slater's 2006-2010 were fantastic!

A lot of what you're saying does sound atrocious though, sorry:/

I can't take anything seriously after putting Kat and Alfie back in the Vic.

Look, I'm only trying to express my opinions about the show, and I wouldn't force you to watch it of I was EP. Anyhow, the reason why I would axe the Brannings is because there are too many of them, and that if they went, then a new generation of characters would be allowed to come in and revamp the show just in time for the future.

Count the Brannings. Go on list them all and tell me if they count as too many.

Max
Tanya
Abi
Lauren
I would've axed all four of them.

Well you said there would be no Linda and Nancy and that is a world I don't want to live in frankly cos they are bloody marvellous. Its a shame you can't see it.

I'd keep all 4!

There is still life in them yet,

Its continuity, 2006 castings. and I also want to see Tanya again!

Love the Carters.(except for Tosh and Tina). Although I wouldn't miss Johnny and Lee.

Love Charlie.

Ross Kemp doesn't want a return.

Not fussed if the rest of the Brannings go.

Kat and Alfie could run the café, the mart or even the B&B.

2006 castings were brilliant, HOWEVER that's only because Santer brought life to all of Kate Harwoods characters that she introduced (Shirley, Max, Tanya, Abi, Lauren, Sean, Denise, Chelsea, Libby, etc...) However, he axed Dean(o) for a reason, and he should of stayed axed-_-

My full thoughts on those ideas:

Kat and Alfie in the Vic - Their tenure at the Vic totally sucked the life out of the show for me. They also had a resolved story arc when they left in 2005, it undid a strong conclusion by bringing them back.

Phil's stalker SL - I agree it should have gone for longer and gone far deeper to unseat Phil as King of Walford, but I don't see the need in him having a secret son. Surely all the child/parent angst with Phil can be achieved between Ben and Louise? They both have the advantage of having a rich established history to draw upon rather than some nomark.

Ryan - He left at the right time and with a good storyline. I far prefer that he's had a few years away with a dramatic exit and can come back to explore a new dynamic with Lily/Stacey/Whitney rather than have hung around before.

Jay Brown - A lot of posters say Jay needs a good storyline, but many are quite sketchy on what exactly that should be.

Nick Cotton - The 'kill me ma' thing has been totally and utterly exhausted. It would have been plausible once had Dot ever had some money worth stealing but it's a tired riff on an old storyline thing. Jesus christ no to Matthew Horne, I don't think he's suited to Eastenders at all.

The Brannings - Tanya was a spent force by the time she left, I much prefer that we've got Max and Lauren left than any of the others.

I loved Kat and Alfie in the Vic, that's what Alfie was best at imo and he had a job, family and a life and kicking them out to make way for the Carters has killed their relationship and Alfie's personality and soon, if the rumour is correct, himself, literally!

I totally agree with you about Kat and Alfie and I love them to bits, especially Alfie, thing is though, don't expect to get taken seriously, liking Alfie Moon is considered a criminal offence in here, if a person is an AM fan they may as well have the plague!

Kat and Alfie in the Vic?

The Vic needs LIFE. Alfie was ok as the barman and everything but the Vic needs to have a busy family with a few generations in it to keep it thriving.

It was so dull with the Moons in there.
