The more I read through this thread the more 'trolly' it seems

The Vic needs a strong family, its nice to see a family get on well sort off. Kat and Alfie did get stale in The Vic, although the problem is where else do you put them.

I would get rid of Dexter, Fats, Max and Abi Branning.

Shirely has to learn her lesson. She is not a good person. Dean would not rape Linda, but we would find out what happened in prison and slowly he and Shirley can rebuild their relationship.

Phil has to be bought down once..how great if Sharon had succeeded and had the upper hand. No one other than Sharon would needed to know she beat him and they still could get married..but then he'd know she was his equal.

Get Roxy to find out Phil stole her money.

Stop Ian sleeping with prostitutes and stop him wearing those hideous bogey greyish t-shirts.

Give Kat a new partner.

Your ideas seem harmful to the show and they also seem too farfetched to work. I would much rather keep the Carters and watch them develop than have Grant back.

Kat and Alfie's current story is fresh and new. Putting them behind the Vic again wouldn't happen.

I have listened to all of your opinions, now it's time for me to speak again.

I know that you might not want Grant back, but like I said, killing the character off would be the only way to persuade Ross Kemp to return, as he must get pestered sometimes by some people asking him about returning to Albert Square.

The reason I've suggested that Phil's stalker should've been a secret son is because it would change Phil Mitchell from a Hardman/Bully character into a more Vulnerable and quieter character. Phil's secret son would've been a psychotic character who is absolutely desperate to ruin his illegitimate father, and he could've possibly torn the Mitchell family apart.

As for the Carters, I only would've brought Stan in, not Linda, Not Mick, not even Johnny. Stan is the only good character to come out of that family, and a two-person story Arc between him and Shirley would've been GOLD!

Is there anybody else that has anymore opinions?

If I were EP, I would put Lauren and Nancy together and do a late night special.

Except a lot of the story relies on the other family members. Shirley and Stan arguing with no one else around them would be dull.

Not imo it wasn't!

And if Mick really wants to help Alfie why doesn't he give him a job?

You need to go back to drawing board and start again, your ideas are not the best. Try again!

Why's it up to Mick to give him a job?

He explained that when Stacey asked for one anyway, there's about 27 Carter's running the Vic, they don't need anymore staff.

I both agree and disagree with your post, I might be the only one but I really think Eastenders has improved in this last year and it's not just because of one thing (the carters, the whodunnit etc) It's all of it.

I never thought i'd like the Moons outside of the Vic but with Mo, Stacey and Lily they've created there own little family unit and it works.

The Carters are a great replacement, yes at the moment everything is about them as they are so popular but it'll die down eventually.

If you're going to bring back a character, bring back Ryan OR Grant but not both, they're too similar (likeable bad boys with an eye for the ladies and a temper) for the show to be big enough for both of them, it wouldn't work.

I agree about the stalker storyline, Phil has gone stale in the past year or two, he and Sharon bore me to pieces and I'm not excited for this wedding storyline whatsoever. He needs a big dark gritty storyline, that's when Steve McFadden works best.

Let's be honest, if Phil and Sharon were new characters without all the history would they have put them together? Whatever chemistry or whatever they had in the 90's in long gone and they don't work anymore. Phils at his best when he's being bad or when he's got his family around him. I enjoyed it when it was the family unit of Phil, Shirley, Ben and Jay. Phil and Shirley are so much better suited.

As a previous poster said, It was awful when it was Branning central with Derek, Kirsty, Alice and Joey but now all those are gone and we don't have them in EVERY episode they are much more likeable.

I agree with everything you said about Dot's grandson APART from the actor, Matthew Horne is a brilliant actor but he's much better doing comedy, you really think he'd make a believable villain? As for the mum, I know we've not seen much of her but I like the actress playing her as well.

But I was bitterly bitterly disappointed when it was revealed Charlie was a 'good' guy after all. After all the months of build-up, of secretive phone calls and dodgy looks and it turns out the biggest secret is that Nick was alive...well duh!! A monkey could've figured that out!! That storyline has been a complete and utter let-down so I agree with you there in the fact he should've been a villain like his dad.

The actor who plays Jay is a good actor but I think the characters time is almost up now. Like an other poster said, yes he needs a good storyline...but what? There's not much more you can do with a character like that and It's no good just keeping him in the background, send him on his way and give him a happy ending with Abi.

So?

He wants to help him doesn't he?

Alfie knows the pub doesn't he?

Surely Saint Mick could help a friend in need?

The Vic needs LIFE. Alfie was ok as the barman and everything but the Vic needs to have a busy family with a few generations in it to keep it thriving.

It was so dull with the Moons in there.”

But the Mitchell's are so much better than the carters

It isn't 'up to Mick' as such, I was just wondering why the saintly Mr Carter who replaced him couldn't give him a job!

I mean Tina works in the caff so Alfie could have had her place in the business or he could have had a job in the caff.

Trouble is TPTB wanted the Carters to rule the square and dominate everything which is why Kat and Alfie have been destroyed!

In your opinion.

Did you not state previously that all soap viewers and indeed the whole country just loved that nasty, hypocritical, screeching old bag Peggy Mitchell?

I can assure you they did not.

I was counting the characters on the BBC website and the Brannings aren't that big

Carters has 11 Members
Mitchell has 9 members and that includes Sharon and Denny as they are in Mitchell section
Brannings has Six members excluding Stacey as she is in moon section

The rest has less then six members in it

SO tecknacly The Carters and The Mitchells are the big Families in Walford

I always loved The Mitchells and still do I also loved them in the Vic But since Peggy left i don't think The Mitchells will work there again unfortunately even now i do Miss Peggy alot every Time i see a scene of in the Vic i always think of Peggy. I never liked Kat and alfie in the pub they were rubbish. Out of the Carters Only Like Linda i am gone off Mick. Shirley shouldn't have got 20% of the Pub as she blackmailed them.

No matter who owns the Vic They never going to Match the Mitchells time in the vic

I think the Brannings don't need axing at all but Lorna who plays Abi should a) never comes back or b) be recasted after her Uni stint.

Max needs a storyline that doesn't involve sleeping with women
Lauren needs a good story its been a while

They haven't been destroyed. If anything they've been repaired. They were doing nothing but the tedious "dirty Kat cheats on Alfie in an alleyway".

He didn't "replace him", he bought the place.

While I did like Alfie and Kat in the pub and I agree with Retro Fan that they worked there, I do like the Carters there now with the exception of Aunt Babe and Shirley. If I were EP I'd axe;

Shirley
Aunt Babe
Fatboy
Dexter
Cora

Alfie and Kat could run the B&B. I do like the Brannings so I wouldn't axe them but they would be in the background until I found a suitable story. I would just concentrate on getting Max some friends like the Alfie/Mick riendship instead of the constant bed hopping.

And, the fire would hae been accidental had I been EP. Alfie would have turned to smoking due to stress of hismoney worries and accidentally thrown away a lighted cigarette which combined with Mo's hairspray would have destroyed the house and caused Kat's burns. Alfie would have confessed to Mick who would have assured him it was accidental/not his fault and Spencer would have sent Alfie another copy of Nana's photo.
