I both agree and disagree with your post, I might be the only one but I really think Eastenders has improved in this last year and it's not just because of one thing (the carters, the whodunnit etc) It's all of it.
I never thought i'd like the Moons outside of the Vic but with Mo, Stacey and Lily they've created there own little family unit and it works.
The Carters are a great replacement, yes at the moment everything is about them as they are so popular but it'll die down eventually.
If you're going to bring back a character, bring back Ryan OR Grant but not both, they're too similar (likeable bad boys with an eye for the ladies and a temper) for the show to be big enough for both of them, it wouldn't work.
I agree about the stalker storyline, Phil has gone stale in the past year or two, he and Sharon bore me to pieces and I'm not excited for this wedding storyline whatsoever. He needs a big dark gritty storyline, that's when Steve McFadden works best.
Let's be honest, if Phil and Sharon were new characters without all the history would they have put them together? Whatever chemistry or whatever they had in the 90's in long gone and they don't work anymore. Phils at his best when he's being bad or when he's got his family around him. I enjoyed it when it was the family unit of Phil, Shirley, Ben and Jay. Phil and Shirley are so much better suited.
As a previous poster said, It was awful when it was Branning central with Derek, Kirsty, Alice and Joey but now all those are gone and we don't have them in EVERY episode they are much more likeable.
I agree with everything you said about Dot's grandson APART from the actor, Matthew Horne is a brilliant actor but he's much better doing comedy, you really think he'd make a believable villain? As for the mum, I know we've not seen much of her but I like the actress playing her as well.
But I was bitterly bitterly disappointed when it was revealed Charlie was a 'good' guy after all. After all the months of build-up, of secretive phone calls and dodgy looks and it turns out the biggest secret is that Nick was alive...well duh!! A monkey could've figured that out!! That storyline has been a complete and utter let-down so I agree with you there in the fact he should've been a villain like his dad.
The actor who plays Jay is a good actor but I think the characters time is almost up now. Like an other poster said, yes he needs a good storyline...but what? There's not much more you can do with a character like that and It's no good just keeping him in the background, send him on his way and give him a happy ending with Abi.
